I just had the BEST bumblefoot

EVER!

Came out so nice and clean.
Seriously first one ever.
Only 1 out of 8 feet had a bumble for a change.
I’m chalking it up to changing the roost to a 2x4 widesided. :fl

It a new personal best wooooohoooooo!:celebrate

Gurtrude is still sporting glittery red toenails a month after painting them.
Lucky girl! Mine are sporting "galaxy" it is a almost black blue with rainbow glitter. Had to keep it semi manly for Negan.:)

Morning everyone.

Love the painted toenail idea for the birds. :lau
I bet it's a challenge on grown birds.
It really depends, some of mine just won't have it Marlene and Susan are total nopes! Hobo isn't a huge fan she'd let me but I don't force it. All the Derps though still really enjoy it, maybe because I did it when they were little it could also be the foot massage. Not as easy now, they lay on their sides on my lap like dustbathing position and just let it happen. Iv'e just been trying to sneak and do Negan because Beavis and Lulu put my legs to sleep.:lau

It should have been deeper--pointy root that goes into the foot.

I hope the core did not break off in there!
I should have taken a picture of the plug, I squeezed the sides, wide of the wound with a hemostat and the whole thing rose up out of there and did come to a point! It was about 1/4 inch tall. Then it plopped off the hemostat and fell into my bucket of sudsy Epsom salt water.
This bird is a welsummer. She and her sister have always been plagued by them. The buffs-never.
Usually hers are very diffuse and there’s never any plug of hard pus whatsoever. When i remove her bandage in a few days I’ll have another look but right now I’m feeling pretty good about it.

She had one that took months to heal (this spring into summer) I finally had to root-rooter all the way through the top of her foot and insert a makeshift penrose drain that I made from a sterilized wide rubberband, for about a week to get that sucker to heal.

:thumbsup

I hope it heals quickly too!

Thats a nice one! You kind of get lucky yours get bumbles on the bottom "not really lucky though" the worst one here Marlene "of flippin course" gets them between her toes. Those suck taters to get completely out! She's the reason iv'e got like 20 assorted dermal punches and more PRID salve than a person should ever own...oh lord and a whooole bunch of baby socks!:barnie

Can you take a pic of your foot wrap. I've not yet had a bumble incident, but it seems like wrapping a chicken foot would be difficult and I'm interested in seeing how you do it for when I inevitably have to deal with it, b/c chicken, like children, always get EVERYTHING.
