Sugar Update:
She had 2 scrambled eggs for breakfast! She’s getting smart and demanding. When she wants a drink she stops eating and clicks her beak a little. Then pecks next to the dish for more food. I try to hold both but she’s so eager to eat I have to hold onto the dish tight.
Got her back in the sling. I swear if she gets poop on it again I’m just going to cut that part off. It’s hard to adjust it while she jumping around screeching at me.
She’s still weak but obviously getting stronger. She lists to her left and forward at times. I’ve noticed she gets gassy too. I’m not sure if it’s from her wolfing her food down or something else. I massage her crop a little and she burps.
All in all doing better! Going to pick up that eye ointment and some fish today. Was thinking about some spinach too. None of my chickens like leafy greens though. So she may get an omelet for breakfast.

:wee:goodpost:
My chickens love fresh dill more than any other herb, then cilantro -but only if the I can prove the dill is all gone.
When I come back next time I want to come back as
YOUR CHICKEN!you are the best chicken mama! :love

She's happy not having to use her legs!
She's standing on her good leg (her left) and you can see the other leg is kicked out to the side. I'm going to see how she is after a day or two of no weight on it. Then maybe a hobble to see if I can line it up again.

eta: I was holding her like a purse, hanging in her sling. She started chatting with Sugar. They have both been making little hen noises.
You need a little chicken hospital sign!

Ohhh, taters updates! I'm saved from chick hatching until spring thank goodness! I wasn't thrilled about forking over a bunch of Lulus. I'd also rather guy find out the sexes on his own time rather than me doing it. I know that sounds bad but I don't like hustling roosters even though i'm real good at it. Also Tina turkey gets to stay home! The troublemakers are getting evicted due to violating get this their pet clause! The landlord owns both properties and the troublemakers have trashed their house so bad he's going to doze it and join the lots. So not only does Tina get to stay, she's getting a bigger yard. Iv'e got to say karma is a tater and I couldn't be happier with the whole outcome.:clap
Yay! Phew! This is Great news.

Question squatchy chefs:

I’m a city girl with city chickens:gig

I’m grilling whole fish tonight.
If I were to save the cooked heads and whatnot in the fridge overnight, can the chickens have them tomorrow?

Will the bones hurt them?
(Yes they have grit)
Will I have to sit them down and explain it to them....
Or provide them with tiny little chopsticks?

:pop

Mine have never gone for leafy greens. Even broccoli is a no. They'll eat cucumbers but only of I open them up first. They mostly want the seeds.

Sugar is the most alert she has been today. Up until today I would check on her by peaking into the laundry room from the kitchen and she was almost always sleeping. Today I look in and she's looking around and having a snack or a drink. Really Gladys needs a bigger crate but I don't have one at the moment. I may try to get them side by side. That way they can see each other and have little hen hospital parties.

Heads are ok, I wouldn't give any itty bitty bones though. I don't think you'll have to explain, they'll know it is good.:)

You can make fish stock out of the bones, then calm chowder or something similar.

They will eat the meat off of the bones but most bones will be too hard for them to eat
