I've never done it. Haven't caught a fish since I've had chickens. Gonna fix that soon. I was warning a BYCer about too much fish when this guy popped in. Over time we've become friends. But he's up in Alaska and Fish is a primary protein source for his family. We limit fish meal to 5% in our feed blends to avoid the eggs becoming fishy. Water fowl that have natural access to ponds can sometimes produce fishy tasting eggs as they're eating small fish from the pond.

Now see I wouldn't give mine a fish bone to save my LIFE! One of those weirdos would find a way to choke on it or get jabbed in the eye or something!

Or lord forbid fishbone in the ear! I'm up to three earhole seed removals now, two on the same bird! Iv'e even bought one of those earscopes for my kit. Nope no fishbones.

How on earth are they getting seeds in their ears?!? They have feathers to protect from that kind of thing.
Really they must be very skilled and are placing them each others ears.

Would that be given as a treat? Sorry to sound like a dingbat.
They don’t get much in the way of people food.
All flock, oystershell, grit, some Herbs a few times a week.
Hulled raw sunflower seeds once a week or so
An occasional meal worm.
Definitely under the 10% rule.

We aren’t getting any eggs right now because of molt, so I thought it would be a good time!

Yes, as a treat. Put out what they will eat in about 10 minutes. You co not have to give it to them every day
