Well nature was not on her side for sure. I looked for the second keet all over the place but had no luck finding it. If i took that last keet, it wouldn't be happy by itself. And i would get flogged again i am sure.Thumbs down

That's how mom's are. I sat for 6 hours w/ a hole in my foot before I acknowledged that risk of tetanus & infection was a greater risk. A couple years ago I broke my hand and kept saying I'll go tonight- I'll go tomorrow morning until I finally said It's too late now. It took a month before I could use it again. And about 8 years ago I broke my arm moving a stove and didn't go to the hospital for that either... it 'wasn't that bad'... They talk about men, but women are just as bad.I had to make her do it
My suggestion is to consider taking them to the vet. They might be able to help the one that seems sick. Or just take up a sample for a fecal float. It was $24 for the float at the vet in Middlefield. As for Glayds--
View attachment 1559604 You can see her right leg is forward and turned foot out.
She is a master at getting her hobbles off. I tried sports wrap...the self stick stuff vets use. She pulled it off. So I tried to straighten her leg.

That is a seriously pissed off hen! I padded a paper towel tube, cut to length, and put it between her ankles so her right leg couldn't turn. I then banded her feet to keep her legs parallel. View attachment 1559607This is what I find. So I gave up the hobbles and just put her in the sling to take the weight off. Nope, doesn't like that either. Found her doing the splits on the floor last night. Right leg completely forward, left leg completely back. Took the sling out before she breaks her damn legs.
I sat with her yesterday and did some more examining. I can stretch and move both legs in all sorts of ways and she doesn't make a peep. I massaged her bad leg and did exercises with it. That loosened it up a bit but it still wants to go forward.
Right now I have her on a towel for traction just sitting in the crate. I banded her legs together under her body to keep them pulled back at least.
Her right foot is warm but she doesn't bend the toes. She seems to move the whole thing from the hip. I'm pretty sure she has feeling in it but there is a disconnect somewhere between that lower leg and her brain. I noticed it's like trigger leg. I can bend and manipulate it but when I let it go it wants to snap back to a certain position. The massage helped that I just don't know why it's happening. I figure if its stuck in a stiffened position it would at least be better if it were more under her. So right now that's what I'm shooting for. I'm picking up the baby aspirin and trying that too. Some anti inflammatory and massage. I'm at a loss as what else to try.
Excellent title. Let us know when it goes to printing.I did get my stuff back, eventually. It took awhile. But I was stuck (!) down there for almost a year, so it all worked out.
Yeah, no doubt. Key West was THE WORST place to send me. I fell in love with it down there, and forever until I die, that will be my favorite place in the world. I don't know how @Hope Hughes ever left it.
A big part of my heart is in that town....
My book? I was gonna call it "Other Than Honorable," lol~
I use the feather fixer all the time b/c it's the only pellets my store sells that don't have calcium.Feather fixer or switch to flock raiser with free choice calcium.
Feather fixer works very well though
I LOVE Pat Catan's the closest one to me is at the Chapel Hill mall, but it's been a while since I've gone. I do scrapbooking & have been on hiatus for a while so I've not been buying stuff for it. They always had fun stuff & their clearance section is awesome. I'll have to stop over... There's a Michael's near the one at the mall, so I assume they'll be closing one, or the other.Pat Catans. Recently bought by Michaels craft stores. What you’ll never believe was the prices! The two tin cutouts were $3 each. So was the metal looking plate. The bigger white plate with the rooster print was a whopping $4.50. Everything was 70% off. I’m tempted to go back!

As for molting birds— I have a few that obviously feel ill. My poor Roo Trouble seems to have fallen into that category. He looks dreadful and seems afraid of his own shadow. (Pretty sure Taterhead is taking advantage)
I feed Feather Fixer all the time. It was the best I could come up with to compromise between calcium and protein with a constantly fluctuating flock. I try to give extra protein treats to help them recover faster.
Each bird is different. Some don’t mind being handled others would prefer I leave them alone.
Isn't that ridiculous? We're in the 50's so it's not too bad, but last week we went from almost 90 to 60. Completely unnecessary to drop so much in one day. Stay warm!Been a BUSY day here.
Storm rolling in so had to get the gals houses cleaned.
Went grocery shopping for seriously just a few things.W
I think everyone was there!
Had to hit 3 stores to find hen feed.
Seriously one would think it was the end of days the way people react to a one day storm here.
The house cleaning was on the list for tomorrow but I don't want to do it in 25° temps and snow.
Today was a wonderful 60°.
I'm going to x2 everything 21 said. Honestly, if it was me I'd go back to the store and speak w the manager and ask them for the tape so they can watch for the guy & you can file a police report. His smile and growling meant he knew what he was doing and he's not going to stop until someone stops him. If it ever happens to you again, beat him w/ your hand bag. He's a perv who wants the reaction... so give him one he'll remember.Sooo had about an eighty year old man pinch my butt in publix today while I was getting a bag of coffee. Didn't say a word just pinched, smiled and growled. I still don't know if i'm upset about it. I'm hoping he was senile.![]()
That's horrible.I am awake.......unwillingly lol.
Looks like they may have underestimated our snow a bit.
There is at least 7" on the back porch.
Not sure I am awake enough for snow.
When puppy as to pee puppy HAS to pee though.
It's 22° and not going to get above 29 according to the weather channel.
Brrrrr.
I was thinking about the heated dish this weekend... we're getting into the 30's overnight now. Ugh.. it's too soon for that!Luckily it's not that extreme often.
Also luckily there aren't that many off steep cliffs.
Hubby is home and back in bed. He didn't get any sleep last night.
Birds are tended. They looked outside and then started the complaining.
I need to find where I put the deicer thingy for the big coop.......it's a six gallon dish in there.
The little coop is just a one gallon so easy to thaw.
Beautiful! & perfect timing!Finished, washed, dried and on the bed!
Hubby's quilt is finally done!

I rather like this dark backing.
Great job! How many bunns do you have now?View attachment 1560505
The new bunny cage. Hubby helped me move it to the new location and i screwed on the roof and put bunnies in it. I need to set up a water system for them or hook into the other one.
Ugh, that pecking order crap sucks, doesn't it? I have a couple of the older ones being mean to Toothless b/c she's daring to sleep on the other end of the roost where no one sleeps. Like it matters to any of them.Oh and the past couple nights Lulu has decided the fun thing to do is chase the littles at bedtime. She can't catch them but she's really trying. I think she's trying to "move up" she's been stank eyeing Marlene too. Lord help us all if she gets a higher spot.![]()
Oh no! I was wondering how safe they were hanging out in the brush pile. Poor things.Danged guinea is down to one baby left. I think the cold weather and all the running around did the babies in. Or maybe a predator at night.
I have 24 rabbits, but 4 are young bucks i will be selling. That's how mom's are. I sat for 6 hours w/ a hole in my foot before I acknowledged that risk of tetanus & infection was a greater risk. I swear they wait until you spend a bunch of money to send you a coupon.I got the side put back on the outer area for the 2 separated chickens. They couldn't figure out how to get out of it (it's not like it's blocked off, they just have to turn to the left), then last night I was worried they were too dumb to get back into the coop. I previously had a couple boards down around the edge of their run to hide the wire that was there for the "door" so I can get in... when I lifted the boards there was some big tunnels under there. I'm guessing rats so I put out a few traps.
I found a good size tomato plant growing off the back of the run. It's a little late for that.
I bought the wood to reinforce the run, but I want to paint it before I put it up. & I got some plywood to make a bit of a cover for the back door.. Had them cut the 8' sheet in half, then realized I'd had too much faith in the trunk of the new car. My old car had a much wider trunk.. this one, not so much. So their cover will be 2' wide, which should be enough to keep the water from blowing in.
And today will be the final dose on the safeguard for the worms. I was not amused to open my email today and see that I got my TSC neighbor's discount when I really could have used it when I dropped $30 on the safeguard.
I hope you're able to find them homes.I have 24 rabbits, but 4 are young bucks i will be selling.
The weather is just too wet and chilly to drag chicks all over the place. But i took her eggs all season so i gave her a chance. And the pile is whole trees and dirt pushed up by the bull dozer, its about 20 feet tall. Lots of gaps and pockets.
