We are actually looking at a breeder in Lima OH. She breeds red and Apricot Standard Poodles . She and her hubby are retired school teachers and they raise the puppies in their home, around kids and grandkids and other dogs and cats. They are good people and don't over breed their dogs. They also have been certified for hips, eyes and VonWillibrands disease ,which is very common in Standard Poodles. I think they will be a perfect fit.
We have always had Standard Poodles and have always had black or white , they were all from the Akron Oh area. This time we wanted something a little different, still a Standard Poodle but different color and different area. They will have their next litter in late winter so we would get our puppy in the spring. That sure seems a long ways away but I know it will be here before we know it

Cream Puff was a new chicken when eggs were offered! LOL Her and Gladys shared 3 eggs scrambled for breakfast. Gladys wasn’t so sure about sharing but there was no pecking. Then Cream Puff went to stand by her and preen.
I was worried enough to buy mackerel. Neither of them ate it. I guess I have to feed them by hand if it’s something I really want them to eat. I’ll try again but eeewwww.
Everyone else here seems good. I’m waiting for Texas time and calling the lab that can do testing on live birds. I’ll let you all know what I come up with.

Apryl I'll add to the chorus of how lucky those girls were... Had a 10 pointer decided to attack a friends VW Bus. Turned out to be a huge mistake for the deer, put those horns right through the sliding door and got stuck and it was deer season. Had to cut the horns off to get him into the bus.



Last guy who asked me for money for food, got offered a free meal and promptly declined. Guess he wasn't really all that hungry.

Wow, that's crazy! We saw some in my parent's yard a couple years back and stayed WELL far away.. they can kick like crazy. Not worth the risk from either end.

Ok, rant time. I'll post pictures, and then y'all can rant for me.

The first pic is the area DH parks in, it used to be a level cut out. The driveway is currently so muddy that I could barely drive up it, and when they came to survey before all of this, they used the chain link fence as the marker, even though the maps show that it actually is the corner of the wood fence behind it. Of course DH had to insist that if a survey crew came out, it must be right, even though maps show that I am. Of course the planning of all of that didn't include accessing the back yard, so they are tearing up our property to do stuff on the backside of their foundation. Yes, I'm calling the country planning office to complain cuz they did all the way up to, and possibly over the property line. Basically, I'm tatered because they're screwing up our stuff and making everyone stressed, except DH, from all the crap. I'm not blaming the guys that are doing the work, they're just doing what they're told. I'm putting all of it on the property owner and the country for not considering the impact all if this has on us and our property. Our property is getting torn up so he can have his house. The country said it was ok to build 5 feet off the property line, but I doubt they actually came out to look at the land and the fact that it's on a hill.

Anyhow, I'll let y'all channel my anger and frustration for me while I call the county.

I'm wondering if they're trying to encourage the neighboring home owners to move.. Like you'll get tired of their encroaching and put your place up for sale and they'll buy it up & tear the house down.. Make their own estate. If you do decide to sell, mark up the price... they'll pay it.

Also works great on oatmeal.

I have Keurig and we use it as a water heater too! It's so much easier than using the microwave and getting scalding hot food you can't eat.

My seramas get frostbite, but they insist on sleeping outside. losing the tips never seems to bother them at all.
My CL shakes his head a lot, like that stupid strand of hair that always falls in your eyes? It looks even bigger than your guys though. I don’t guess it bothers him as far as seeing or eating. Yet.

Odin did that head shake thing. I was worried it was worms or some disease for a while but I think it was just his comb was annoying him.

I guess it would be cheaper than fox pee and I wouldn't have to trot through the store with a bottle of pee and look a random cashier in the face.

Yeah I don't think mine would be too scary. Skunks don't fear a good hollering at. Hub's is just so stinky there are bears that don't smell that bad. That is why I got all "don't do that!" about it.

You can buy human pee, but people who do that usually do it for drug tests.

So many things wrong w/ this statement.

Really, seeing the crazy lady peeing in the yard probably would deter most things. But i'm not squattin in front of a bunch of skunks, I do have a few limits....very, very few.

I've heard that mothballs keep them away, but I'm not sure how safe that is w/ chickens milling about.

Pumpkin conspiracy. I was going to get the heathens a pumpkin right? Publix no pumpkins, Walmart no pumpkins, Ingles no pumpkins...where are all the dang pumpkins? You usually can't avoid pumpkins right now!

We have them here. Do you have any farms nearby? Our local orchard sells pumpkins by the lb. Walmart still had some for $1.88. Did you guys have your trick or treating yet? If so, that's probably why you can't find any.

One of our managers has a standard poodle. It was a rescue and was part of a russian circus. Apparently it knows tricks, but he said he's not going to try to figure them out b/c she's not working anymore.

Glad to hear Cream puff is looking better. My puff looks miserable too. I popped open some of her pins so she'd be a bit warmer. She seemed a bit more comfortable afterward, but like yours, didn't want me messing around w/ her tail pins.

My naked puff was pecked at. She had a bloody clot on one of her wing feathers. I cleaned her up and she's caged in the coop now. She must have been miserable b/c she let me hold her for at least an hour. Normally she doesn't even let me look in her direction. She's not at all happy w/ the arrangements though. She looks horrible. The entire time she was outside she was side stepping, afraid someone was going to peck her. I broke open a bunch of her pin feathers so she's looking a little better. I'm hoping she'll fill out enough by this weekend that I can let her loose again.

I got some rat traps. It hailed Sun night so it tripped one of them. It ate the peanut butter off the old fashion trap and walked away... I'm hoping I caught something last night. It's got tunnels all over the back area. No way to stop it from getting in... I just need to kill them.

I got one board up in the run.. hopefully some day it'll stop raining enough so I can get some more of this done.. I'm not holding my breath. Today is the only day of the week that's forecast not to rain.

They actually do testing for most state labs anyway.

So for the Marek’s test I need a few drops of blood on a piece of paper. Send it in a Ziplock with a form I print out. That’s it. That easy. No overnight shipping required. Turn around is same day they get the sample.

He also said it’s a better test then a necropsy. The necropsy looks for tumors. But that doesn’t mean the tumors are caused by Marek’s. The blood test is 99.9% accurate and vaccinated birds are not a false positive.

AND if it’s not Marek’s and I want to test for something else I just ask (and pay) and they can use the same sample.
Did I mention it’s $20.
