You should enjoy them. It is what you have worked so hard for after all.

Knowing that you raised those birds with a healthy environment and good food means your eggs are far better than eggs from standard production farms.
I know you're totally right. It's crazy I feel like this. I think its because I've raised them as pets. I spoil them with all kinds of special treats and they have swings and toys to play on in the run when I'm at work and can't let them free range. I'm too scared the raccoons or hawks will get them if I'm not there to watch them as they explore. As with all things, this to shall pass. I'm eating a omelet next week!!!
:thumbsup

First of all hi! I use to feel wierd, but honestly now it feels better to be enjoying eggs from hens I know are happy. I'm not forcing them to lay, they eat well and get lots of love. The factory hens don't get any of that so im eating a product of sadness, that isn't good at all. :)
I am new to raising chickens. I have such a weird question. Did anyone else just starting out have a problem eating your chickens eggs? It feels wrong.. haha... I know thats silly... I'm hoping it will pass. I really want to enjoy them.

It was funny here after I got over the heart attack she nearly gave me! Crazy little pullet. I'm just so glad my girls "and boy" are pets and easy to catch. Much simpler when they'll come to you instead of running.:p
My hen, Bernice jumped the fence today for the first time and the other girls were in a chicken hysteria!!! She's running one side of the fence the 2 other girls are running the other side of the fence in a complete chicken meltdown. It was both hysterical and scary. :wee

No! I had my first backyard raised eggs as one of my first foods. We always had them when we lived on the 40 acres growing up. It is the same with eating Animals we raised and hunted.

This is not that common anymore LOL

I was 17 when we sold the orchard and moved to a city. We were not allowed to have chickens there--and I hated the eggs from the store!

I was able to hunt at my Grand parents place and there was a wild guinea hen flock where I could get some very good eggs for a while.

I know what you mean, It is so easy to call mine back in. All I have to do is hold up string cheese and yell " Come here girls" and they are hysterical to watch running back to me.
