Hey Squatchers,

Here is someone trying to put together a photo article to help people figure out what type of chicks they may have (pictures of parent stock preferred, so they can be certain of the chicks origin). If any of you hatch and take pictures of your chicks, they would appreciate good photos.

Well I got inspired by @staceyj and by this video to make the heathens some oatmeal. It is safe to assume the younger ones that have never seen oatmeal think iv'e been holding out. Iv'e got oatmeal in my eyebrows.

I called to make Tilly's appt for next month and gave them all the critters names to get things transferred.

You can blow them out and use them for art projects

I was going to suggest the same! I cheat and use a needle and syringe. LOL

I have a hard time. It's like trying to start one of those long skinny balloons. Makes my cheeks hurt!

I’ve tried and tried but I always break them by accident!

I know, but around here it is sooo worth it! If he's not around I get it started and tease it out with a leather needle. If he is, then i'm going full weenie dog balloon on that egg.

The needles they show you in how-to's never work. I hammered a nail through a board and use the tip to make the holes on either end. Works great and helps your cheeks stay young.

I use a large needle for injections. 16g or 18g with a 20 ml syringe. Those needles are sharp enough they cut through the shell.
I have popped a few. You can put quite a bit of pressure on them before they blow. It does actually POP though. Startles me every time. LOL
