Cause he's Pat Nunny, probably the single solitary reason he has frostbite and nobody else does. Just because he's Pat.

It got down to 6° in the coop last night. I have the heat lamp ready for Wednesday if I need it. Poor Pat has frostbite on his comb but he's the only one. I've been putting extreme care on it. It looks good for being black. It was normal temperature feeling yesterday and he doesn't have blisters or anything. I just don't know why it's only him.

I got rabbit feeders for grit and oyster shell too! Mine have the solid bottom. Family Farm and Home had a bucket sale. Buy the bucket and anything you can fit in it is 20% off. So I got 2 rabbit feeders and the heater for when I make the nipple waterer.

I guess today is our last warm day for a while. Sunshine, 40s, little wind. Then we are in for a cold stretch and possible snow. Yuck.

Oh lordy, lordy i've been debating telling anybody this because it is so dang dumb and weird. I'm going to lighten the mood first...here is Ethel rolling all my eggs out into the coop floor to sit on them.

Ok, remember the water bottle fiasco? Hubs was certain somebody was messing with his precious H2O...well oh boy.
Paranoid man has set up cameras to watch his bottle at work..ok I said it.

Yep, she is and unless she works on her stamina what she does isn't technically sitting.
She rolls them all out, arranges them, sits maybe half an hour and goes off to do chicken stuff.

Oh and guys, i'm glad I don't eat chicken because Ethel isn't going to be much bigger than Rene.
Dutch and Sallie are beasts compared to those two.

Jealous! The only ones they had at the store had the bottoms, but I figured for what I'm putting in them it should be fine. I was so mad at myself though b/c I went to the TSC in Ravenna and b/c the website still said they had PDZ, and I can't find it. I even asked a lady there about it and she took me to where it was supposed to be and there's none. Anyway, I used my 10% off coupon there for feed & more of those pine pellets, so when I went to Middlefield, THEN I remembered I wanted to stupid rabbit feeder. I figure for the # I have getting a big one and dividing it would be good enough, but I can easily just by another one if it isn't.
I wonder if all your other birds are tucking their head under their wing to sleep and Pat's not. Of course if you attempted to check on that they'd all wake up.

Here's what we're looking at for the next few days. Wind chills are going to be around -35 apparently.

We had the joy of the furnace going out last night :/ DH couldn't get it working again so now we're just waiting on the repair guy to call us back and get here. We have a wonderful propane heater sitting in the living room now. Not doing much for the rest of the house but at least the living room is nice and toasty and the kitchen is fairly warm. My bedroom is good with a heat lamp and two incubators running in it but the kids' rooms

Why does winter hate us so much?
I hope your repair guy gets there soon. If the repair guy doesn't get there tonight maybe camp out in the living room tonight. Make sure you leave doors open so your pipes don't freeze!

Girl he thinks somebody is putting Clorox in his water because it smells like chlorine...and yep I know how that sounds.
They are pretty little midgets! Iv'e just got a really weird assortment out there big ones, little ones very few normal sized.

My tsc has PDZ in two different places.
AND at two different prices.

One is with the chicken stuff and it’s outrageously priced.

The other is with the horse stuff, in a bigger bag and cheaper!
