Sounds intelligent, not weird.
I’d love it if this would last.
He can’t be “loose” in the house at night because he literally knocks over lamp, jiggles stove knobs, pulls wine glasses out of the wine rack, unscrews the lid to the dog cookie jar and gets into the trash.
Couldn’t let him “sleep with us” because he climbs to the top of our headboard and jumps onto us like we are trampolines, then clears our bedside tables and dressers bare. DH said, “out he goes”- a la Fred Flintstone. Remember this man needs it cold, dark as ink and SILENT to sleep.
So since Sam was tiny he’s been being “put to bed” in the hall bath which has been baby proofed (Sam-proofed).
He has his food and water and litter box and all his toys in there and makes a racket like a house full of frat boys til all hours then starts throwing himself at the doorknob as soon as the first bird tweets long before the sun rises.
Since his injury he’s been sleeping on a folded fluffy blanket in a medium sized dog crate-which cooper has mostly outgrown in our room (The big crate is now in the family room.)
Now he just lies down like a good boy and goes to bed. I don’t know what time he wakes up because so far whatever time I sit up and look at him he’s sitting up just looking right back at me. It doesn’t matter if I wake up at 4:30 or 7!
Guess we’ll have to see what develops.
