The literal translation of Creme brûlée is burnt creme.
I thought it wasn’t related to the custard being cooked in a Bain Marie but just the torching at the end (the sugar)

If the Custard is cooked like a pastry creme is cooked, and beaten and thickened on the stovetop there’s a million variations.

Most call for Saran wrap to stop that skin from forming.

I’ll going to have to investigate the differences in this when I get a chance.

I have been known to just eat a bowl of pastry creme with a handful of berries on it. (Okay maybe lots of bowls)
Aside from it not being “set” it seems to me to taste the same.

This custard is cooked on the stove. I actually like it best warm with whipped cream but DH will only eat it cold. I actually like pie and brownies and cake warm.....oh taters......who am I kidding. I like them cold too. Or even luke warm

Don’t get me wrong I wouldn’t want to drive it if it’s unsafe. But I honestly doubt I could get a car loan. I barely squeaked this one by and the price for the car was way less then it should have been. I would hate to lose this one because of some equation.

My brother was in an accident and his insurance company totals out his vehicle. My Dad paid about $500 to buy it back from them. There was no frame damage just cosmetic so he fix everything and now my mom drives it.

Why can't she pack her make-up case?

Looks like the hood got pushed back.....It may have hinge damage.

It really doesn't look bad at all. Well, I mean it looks bad but it could be much worse. It's really going to come down to the numbers.

Something similar happened with my sister's car. She was rear ended by a tractor trailer and the body shop thought it would be too hard to replace the back hatch on her Subaru. So the insurance company offered her two different amounts and it was only $300-400 more if they took the car. So she found a replacement and my dad used his backhoe on his tractor and a sawzall to pull out the pieces and straighten out the frame and put on a door from a junker and for $300, he had a car that worked well. Unfortunately the engine died after less than a year, but they got their money's worth out of the car.

It all looks fixable to me.

So the radiator got pushed back on one side. It was leaking but not sure if it was hoses or the reservoir is on that side. I didn't pop the hood. Car place, tow guy, and most people who see it say its fixable. Just what the numbers come out to I guess.

The dance competition went really well. We got a trophy for just about every routine we had. Several first places, a few platinums. Both the routines my kid was in got Gold. We found out late Friday that there was another clogging group performing. We thought our more advanced group was competing against them, but then found out they're competitive level and we're advanced (it's based on hours of training/ week).. Then we were under the impression that both of our clogging groups were competing against each other, but then found out they're split by age. This competition had a separate category for clogging so we basically got first by default b/c there was no one against them, usually we're in the small group category. The strange part is that the other clogging team was basically tappers who found clogging shoes. We all got up to leave b/c we thought they were tappers until someone told us they were the other cloggers. So all the nervousness our kids had about going against other cloggers was for nothing. We're all still exhausted & recovering. Friday night we realized my daughter grabbed an empty contact case so I had to drive 3 hrs round trip Saturday morning to go home and get her contacts so she could see for her Sunday dance. She's not allowed to pack her make up case anymore. This weekend is our last regional dance competition before nationals in July. Thankfully it's all in one day and only about an hour away, but it's a very late night.

Oh my gosh! What a weekend. I cannot believe you did all that driving for contacts. I didn’t know she was clogging. I always wanted to clog when I was young. I would do it now if I could find a teacher.

Sure. ....I will get it for you tonight. Personally I'm not a huge custard fan but DH LOVES it and it's a good way to use up some eggs
