Lol! Hobo is small that is the only reason nobody is dead.
Wish she had Betty's situational judgement, to her everybody is a troublemaker.
She's only two maybe it will come with age.;)
Mostly benign really. She gets riled up if someone is a trouble maker. Peanut IS a trouble maker.
Betty is "Bossy Betty" lol. She is a BIG black Australorp about 5 years old already. She keeps those BSL in line. :p

It can improve with time. I have had a couple head hens that were Australorp. Mine all were kind leaders only stepping in when tater went south.

Kanga was AWESOME as a leader. While she and Peaches were around Bitty was very safe in the big birds group. I saw both Kanga and Peaches set a Wyandotte down a few notches.

I am rather fond of Australorp hens. ;)

You know iv'e never had an Australorp, never had the opportunity. They sound like good girls.
Hobo is the only Dominique iv'e seen be so bossy. She trips me out, all she has to do is growl to clear the room.
I'm awful but I can't wait until Prince tries to woo her. She's always such a reality check for the little fellas.:lau

From dark and dingy to bright and inviting!!!:bow

Don't show the guy you bought it from he may want it back!
I need to build them a good run. And I think the piece of vinyl left from the packing crate coop may just fit in this used coop. Be much easier to clean.

The Australorp hens really are quite pretty and not hostile or flighty.
The black feathers get a very pretty beetle green sheen to them. I have a couple that have a purple sheen too. Those bright red combs with those black feathers are a real nice combination.

Honestly....I would have zero issue adding Derps to an Australorp group. I do not recall ever seeing one of my Australorp being a bully.
