Yes, grateful for their service. FIL birthday today and he is not doing well. May have to have a toe amputated due to infection if abx don't work.
Oh no! I hope they get him fixed up. My ex's gpa had a huge abscess on his leg. IDK if he had diabetes but he was in and out of the hospital before they put him in a nursing home. I never saw it, but an emt that too him to the er said it looked/ smelled like gangrene. It's hard to clear up stuff like that when they get older, esp if there isn't someone to help them.

Well I’m now at 3 losses myself. First it was the deathlayer. Then I lost a barnevelder. Sad losses but no one had names so I wasn’t super attached.
This morning I lost Frannie. She was prone on the floor but alive. I picked her up and took her outside to get a look at her. She flapped her wings and died in my arms. I took her in the house and cleaned her up.
Her crop was a bit squishy and her butt was dirty. She was slightly prolapsed but that could have been from the death throws. This one I cry for. She was a special girl. My little pistol Banty Cochin.
I'm so sorry! Poor thing, but at least she had a good life. I specifically remember you saying last week that we had 3 losses in the group and we done for a while. Chickens should definitely live longer.

Thank you and good morning. I was fortunate that day... My team was in a conference room on the far side of the pentagon and all came home alive. Our offices were destroyed by the fire. Huge classified safes melted like candle sticks. I lost a lot of friends that day.

Cap your FIL will be in our thoughts and prayers.
So sorry nunny :hugs
Wow, I didn't realize you were there. I can't even imagine what it was like to go through that, not to mention dealing with all the losses.

:hugs Dang it! Did they not read the memo? :hugsI am sorry Nunny.:hugs

Holy wow. Those are some lucky dogs & it was nice that the judge was willing to help you out w/ the fines. It's not like it's your fault he's Houdini reincarnated.
At least they hit all the good places. I'd love to get me some DQ. They have pumpkin blizzards again and I have coupons!!

I wish buns were like that. We've got a baby out there and if you make eye contact w/ it from afar it will run and hide. I can get within 10 feet or so of it as long as I don't make eye contact & keep a good distance between us. If I even look like I'm coming closer it runs. I just want to fluff it!!! Why doesn't it understand?
Thankfully I haven't seen a skunk around here. Knock on a lot of wood. Near my apt though.. there's a haven for them. I wake in the middle of the night & close the windows b/c someone got bombed.

Ha! Was that forbidden dirt? Mine see me w/ a bucket of any kind and descend upon me like they've not eaten in weeks. 1/2 the time the bucket I have is an egg bucket, but they just see that I might have something they can eat.

You could make a cheater's cheesecake & use one of the graham cracker crusts instead. I make them all the time (not banana though) b/c my kids like them. Super easy. My fav is white chocolate raspberry. I also have a recipe for mini cheesecakes that are cupcake size & we top them w/ pie filling. I found a recipe for a pumpkin cheesecake I'm thinking about trying. I wish it was easier to make smaller amounts of things like cakes and brownies and cheesecakes. We NEVER eat them all b/c there's only 3 of us. I made brownies Sunday night & there's 1/2 a pan sitting there rotting b/c no one else is eating them & I'm fat already.

Is there a farm place around there that will take 'retired' animals? Like there's a farm around here that takes in rescued animals. They try to rehome some, but others they will keep until they die naturally.

I don't think we have any....that won't turn "retired" into soup. :hmm
She is ok here unless someone complains about the noise.
So far it is not to bad. Just a couple dozen carpy sounding crow attempts then done for the day. The first time I heard it I thought a raccoon had a hens leg or something. :lau

@21hens-incharge don't worry about Havoc she'll stop I think it is just a hormone rich time of year.
Im seeing all the signs here too lol!

@FlyingNunFarm Sorry about Frannie, always stinks to lose a sweet one.:(

@apryl29 Yes it was forbidden dirt, it has my moss rose seeds for next year in it....maybe not so much now.;)

Im not crazy, my quotes got eaten lol!
I'm about to clean Bruce's algae, look how big and blue my fish man is now! :)

I got that today too. Glad one of us is excited.

It did make a beautiful rainbow for my Frannie girl.

We desperately need the rain.
I think you definitely needed the rainbow. :hugs

The thunder on the other hand I could go without.
A 110# old dog freaking out is not so much fun.

Frannies loss hit me hard. A friend took her and will necropsy her then bury her for me. I just wish there had been signs that I could have tried to help.

My parents dog would hear thunder and carp herself wherever she was. I swear it got worse the older she got.

I did see some day lightning too. That was cool.
