Two have hatched. Five more external pips. I’m going to candle the other 3 eggs after full dark.

Make that 6 external pips. 2 of those were rocking and rolling when I last looked. The other two... are a bit iffy. Still my hatch rates are going back up! I still have all 4 of the babies I hatched last week! No die off! Next week, my first guinea eggs come out. I have 5 that are looking good. Oh I made a new adjustment to humidity control. I got a gladware container that has sides too high for chicks to get in and a sponge inside it. This is keeping the humidity levels in my lockdown incubator much more stable than the trays in the incubator floor.

I saw the container with the sponge in the pic of the first baby. I'm glad the redneck humidifier is working. Necessity is there mother of slap it together and tinker til it works.

Good morning everyone.

We had an unexpectedly sudden and heavy downpour yesterday evening. It didn't last but 20-30 minutes but was much heavier than I expected.

It is looking like we are going to be in a rain every other day pattern for a while. I am ok with it here. We are uber dry.
