I wish I was making it up, oh do I ever.
But hey at least they aren't piled up here going on about my hillbilly ways and making fun of everything.
They've convinced themselves that they're actual northerners, they run that stereotype into the ground.
Seriously, im aware "you guys" and "pop" are used in Ohio but not like they're using them.
If I just blew on a moonshine jug and talked about how pretty my cousins are I could maybe match their game.
If they were not born and raised in flippin Pickens I might not see the humor in it.
I can't help but wonder what people up there think about that mess other than if they can send them back.
Don't sweat it, and be yourself. They sound a bit like one of my best friends, when I was a young adult. She was an Italian from New Jersey. Everything in, said, done, or from New Jersey was so much better than anything here. People from the South, are rednecks. She didn't run me down personally much for being a Floridian, because we were friends, and the area we lived in was full of transplants from up North.
She had been here about 6 months, when her best friends from New Jersey came to visit. One night, we were all out on the town. Instead of enjoying the difference of being in a different area, most comments were about how much better things were in New Jersey. After awhile, they began to mildly rag on me. Finally, I had enough.
I looked at all 3 of them, and told them that we left the US when I was 12 years old. Since that time, I had lived for at least a year, sometimes longer, in every continent on the planet. I had been educated in some fine private schools, or by private tutors. I had learned to read, write, and speak several languages fluently. When vacationing, I would come back to the US for at least 2 continuous months a year. Over the years, I had spent time in quite a few states, here in the US. While I may not be much in their opinion, all they had going for them was being from New Jersey. Really? It got a bit quiet. Now, let me show you some Southern Hospitality, and I ordered 2 rounds of drinks on my tab.
From then on, I was given total respect.
The following year, my friend went to visit them in New Jersey, then a few months later, they came to visit her. When the topic of how things were in New Jersey vs Florida, and my friend chimed in, the girls began laughing, and ratted her out. The whole time she was on vacation in New Jersey, she kept bragging about how everything was so much better in Florida.
