Wish I could go, aucitonlover, as I'm in the market for auto waterers. But alas, I work till 6 next week and that stuff would be long gone before I got there at 7.

Speaking of auctions, went to two today and what a great time. A Bridges estate auction earlier with tons of tools (I will never have to search my junk for a screwdriver, tape measure, or pliers again) and garden stuff, then to the Flecther auction.

Wow. Just wow. Outstanding collection of birds and poultry equipment and a great crowd. Hats off to Hi-Jacker and Peaches on an excellent auction. Great job, guys.

I bought an egg basket that got POed, but when I saw it was Mike's, I knew it must be worth the 15 bucks he was asking for it and was happy to pay the asking price.

Peaches, I thought that was that broken 'bator I sold you guys which was why I tried to buy it back, but when I saw it was someone else's I let it go. Toyed with the idea of buying it anyway and giving it to you guys out of repentance but $40 was a bit much. I feel bad but not that bad.

Good Morning Okies!

Just dragging out of the bed. Doc has already left for work.

What A GREAT night! Auction went off without a hitch. Almost a 4 hour sale! Thanks to all my BYC Friends and Family That Could Attend. It Is Appreciated. Enjoyed visiting with you all.
I would have never made it through the day without my help. Everyone that helped was so willing. What a great team.. Doc had to work, but made it just a little after the auction started.

Hens were high! Alot of them were in the 15 - 25 Dollar range. Good Prices! Crowd was huge. All our chairs were filled and probably needed about 40 - 50 more chairs. I will work on getting this taken care of.

Once again thatnks for all the support from my BYC family. I know that those that couldnt attend were there in the heart and mind. WE missed you! Hope to see you on the May 29th Sale Day!

Peaches

Buster,

I still have the incubator we got from you. Sorry you thought it was that one. I am still hoping to get that one fixed. Been told that all it needs is a wafer. The co-ops have just been sold out every time I go to get one. I was told last night that I could go to the cutlers supplies and get one. But thanks for thinking about us. Glad to see you there last night!

For those of you who don't realize it, Robin is our own Chicken Rehabilitation angel. The pretty Wyandotte pullet she posted about belonged to Okiegirl and couldn't get up after being attacked by a dog at Okiegirl's place. Robin offered to take the injured chicken, so Okiegirl brought her to POOPS. Great job, Robin - it looks like your care and nursing is doing the pretty pullet good. My hat is off to you for having the patience and time to spend with her!

Late Morning, Early Afternoon Everyone!

Well had a great time last night, Stella did too. She did really well for her first auction. The poor little hen I got at the auction is already fit herself in nicely with the flock. Of course all the roosters were showing off but she is not interested. Looks like she was with some really rough roosters cause her backside is really bare. I have kind, sweet roosters who are gentle with the hens, so she will heal up in no time.

Getting ready to head out to pick up two dog kennels. Need to expand the chicken yard and make additional grow out/breeder pens. Got to love craigslist. I will have to do a bit of traveling but the prices are so cheap it is well worth the gas and time to pick them up. Once I get the pens, coops and yards set up like I want them I will take pics to post. I do not have quite the set up as everyone else does but the goal is easy cleaning and sanitation.

I need to get some chicken netting but everywhere I have looked it is really expensive. Oh well I figure out something. Also

The weather out side is B-E-A-utiful! Been up since 8 and considering I went to bed and was asleep by 2 that is not much sleep. Have a ton of stuff to do and just doesn't seem like there is enough time in the day to get it all done.

So it is off to get the things I can do, done and the things I can't make plans for them another day.

Have a great day Okie friends!

Morning Okies,
It is nice to have temps above 65 degrees again - after I moved a hen with her 3 week old chicks out of a cage in the barn to the flight pen yesterday, I was afraid we would wake up to 45 degrees today.

Jaxon brought me a juvenile black ratsnake this morning and I have been trying to find out what to feed it. Some of the things that came up on my Google search are no longer there - probably some of those things that were on the website hosts that decided to shut down last year without much advance notice. I am pretty sure that it would eat baby chickens if it was larger,

but as a juvenile it is only about as big around as a pencil - although about 15 inches long. I am pretty sure this is what I have found in my garden before, so may just have to release it near the worm compost bins and let it forage for its own buffet. Oh Teach....... where are you?

The yellow pheasant we got at POOPS is regrowing his tail feathers. I will focus on finding him a hen later this summer after folks have hatched some pheasant eggs. My red golden pheasant has only been laying eggs for about 6 weeks.
