Here is our work in progress. Sorry I forgot to get pictures as we were going along, but I will get them on the next one. This is a duplex and one half is finished but we are still working on the other side. Hope you enjoy it!

Do you think those buckets will hold up?

I have some old pallets laying around, and was thinking about building a little range shelter/nestbox type of deal from them. It's worth a try. They're free!

I have the buckets under some other coops too and they have been there for almost 2 years now. These are food grade buckets and the sun doesn't seem to hurt them any. I screw the pallets to them when I get it all positioned where I want it.

Reusing materials instead of throwing them in the landfill just makes more sense. We gather materials all the time. I am planning the next coop for the bantams. I will take more pictures on that one.

I too am going to attempt to build my coop out of reclaimed materials - I just picked up 5 free pallets today! I will post pictures as I build as well - my chicks are anxious to get out of their dog kennel!
