Not sure how you cope with Ireland after SA! I spent 2 winters in the UK and the grey nearly killed me. We considered Brittany when we moved back here nearly 4 years ago but decided my Aussie sensibilities were not going to manage with the weather there either! Saying that it rained for 5 months solid here last winter - not nice! Your poor broodies! I'm lucky that my broody coops are in the coolest bit of the garden in deep shade so even when I had 2 going in the heat they were OK - I think I hosed the rooves down a couple of times on the worst afternoons but we were OK!Sounds like S.A
Of course it didWe named the chick Miracle and of course it turned out to be a rooster![]()
OH really - just bloody freezing here! They were predicting sleet if not snow tomorrow and Wednesday but they have taken it off nowTalk about weather, Ireland is under a snow and ice warning... I better stock up on bread and milk!
Eek sounds like there is a lot going on in the tip of thier beaks - makes me feel even worse (ifthat is possible) for those poor battery hens who have them chopped off@PouleChick.
I noticed you reviewed the beak trimming article.

After the brutal heat in S.A. I absolutely love the rain, snow and cold here! I'm a cold weather person, clearly. Just wish the winter days were not so short! Gosh, 04:30pm sunsets?!?!Not sure how you cope with Ireland after SA! I spent 2 winters in the UK and the grey nearly killed me.
Yep that is why I live in FranceI found the grey in England just so depressing when I was there after blue Aussie skies. Weeks on end with no blue & when it did show up it was a thin faded blue.On the other hand I'm not a fan of our super hot weather just now either...
Ah well, we live on top of a hill with waterfront & bushland . We usually have a sea breeze so our temps are normally reasonable but any time I have to go anywhere I notice immediately how much hotter it is.Yep that is why I live in FranceI heard it is insanely hot - keep cool where you can - I spent lots of time at the shops in the airconditioning when I lived in Queensland!
