(PICS@POST #1)Starting a dozen eggs Sunday, Oct 2...any joiners?

As long as they aren't stinky, I don't think you would have to pull them yet. I have a couple that aren't looking too hopeful, but they aren't rotten, no blood rings, so I've just decided to wait to see what happens. Many of my eggs were completely scrambled during shipping, so I am hoping for the best.

Nothing is stinky yet. Yesterday when I looked at all of them, I thought maybe 3 were clear. But, the eggs are brown, so, I am not sure yet. I'll wait, unless something does start to smell or day 10, whichever comes first. Thanks LilyD and misslady

I am sorry to hear that you lost some during shipping. I read about many that have. Mine were unharmed and my ebay seller will receive a nice follow up. Good luck to you on the remaining eggs.

Thank you! It's okay though, I am still excited to see progress in the Black Copper Marans eggs.

I have an order coming in a couple weeks of Splash Marans eggs from a fellow BYC'er this time and am looking so forward to it! The batch I currently have in my incubator I got from a big name website, and none of the Splash's made it. I don't plan on ordering from there again, the quality of the eggs was not very good to begin with, they were very porous and four of them started weeping as soon as I put them in the incubator. The shells were the most brittle that I have ever seen. If I had just done some backyardchicken's research I probably could have saved myself some money! Oh well, live and learn!

I also have my second incubator coming next week. So I am looking forward to filling them both up and giving it a second go.

If at first you don't succeed... try, try again! Good luck to you too!

one week down. I never thought I would be on the computer excited, with other certifiable people, about chicken eggs. I really need to make that appointment with a shrink.

I set my eggs on Oct. 04. Can I join?

I set 7 blue splash marans. I candled last night, day 4 1/2. Boy is it hard to see into those eggs! I should have gone with white eggs for my first attempt at incubating. Too late now. So I cancled last night and one of them looked "sloshy" as I turned it. The innards seemed to move to much and too easily. Is this due to a detached air cell? Or something else? Any hope for this egg? Thanks!
