Yes, they often are, but how old is her mate?Well, these will likely be infertile, right? Poor thing is only 5 months old.

Poultry show in two days! It's ended up that I'm bringing mostly pigeons, lol. No idea how many pigeons will show up; this is a small show even for poultry so it's possible that I might be the only one there with them. I hope not, though.
That's one lucky ducky! Good news for Bugsy! They could well be fertile, will you be candling them?
Nice! Dazzle is starting to eat some on her own too.
So I’ve been preoccupied with ducks again. Hatching, more hatching, and had one I thought I lost to a hawk today! Hubby was sitting on the back porch, the ducks were all in the open yard. They all took off flying for cover, but one female youngster flew the wrong direction. Hubby ran out with the shotgun, was coming back to the yard when I stepped outside. He said he thought it got one. So we walked around for an hour, looking for the duck, or pile of feathers/evidence. Nothing. I watched all my camera footage, and just knew she was eaten. The hawk was right on her tail!
About 2-1/2 hours later, I hear a call (she’s a call duck lol) that seemed distant. I saw her running outside the fence! She came back, not a scratch on her, so I guess she hid. I was so relieved!
I was doing my nightly check, and Bugsy was in a nest bowl. I felt under her, and I’ll be darned, 2 eggs! And Bonnie now has 1. So I guess I have more squeakers on the way too. Population explosion at the DuckChick house! (not even mentioning chickens! Lol)
Good luck at the show. Will you be buying if there is anything takes your fancy?Poultry show in two days! It's ended up that I'm bringing mostly pigeons, lol. Since he's an older guy, the eggs will likely be fertile. He’s a 2018 bird that I got from the man up north.
