Right?!?That's cool!
Until it poops inside the ball.![]()
Aww...so Olive snuggles into her pink fuzzy bed each night? That is cute!
I have confidence in that bird as I've watched him easily outmaneuver and escape from hawks in the yard but I really don't like the idea of sending him on a toss and having him get picked off by something, leaving me with a brother/sister pair. The hawks are still really bad here.Have you thought about doing some tosses with him? You could use this as a motivation. It would also give the other cock a chance to relax whilst the dominant is making his way back.
Yes. You keep them apart and allow limited access to each other. When they release them the only thought on his mind is to get home to his partner. It's pretty basic really but it's effective and the most commonly used method for racing.I have confidence in that bird as I've watched him easily outmaneuver and escape from hawks in the yard but I really don't like the idea of sending him on a toss and having him get picked off by something, leaving me with a brother/sister pair. He's really my best pigeon by far, the fastest, quickest to trap in when they come down, and he seems to be the general leader of the flock when they're up and out. He is the one who encourages the others to start routing as opposed to just sitting on the roof. As much of a pain in the butt as he is I can't bear the thought of losing him especially in the state the loft is in now.
That method is similar to the widowhood method in which racers fly, right?
Nice! I like the colers!
Look who is settling in! Please ignore the algae in the water. It's a daily battle here.
Well done on both counts! It's a shame about the one egg but it sometimes happens. The parents will probably throw the shell out. If not you can remove it.I started a new job and haven't been able to post in a long time. We lost one of our eggs. It got cracked in the nest and didn't make it. We did however just hatch our other egg this morning!!!! Super excited. Should I take the shell out of the nest or will mom eat it?
