You can remove them and move them to the brooder. I move baby sometimes an hour after hatch depending on circumstances.Okay. I decided to put blankets over me to block cold air and I added some hot water to boost humidity. Since then another (the 3rd) chick has hatched, although our incubator is small and the other 2 are trampling all over her... is this safe or should I try and remove them? They’re not fully dry though (almost)
Thank you for the reply! I decided to move them, it’s been 24 hours for 1 chick and 18 hours for the 2nd. The third is still pretty wet as she only hatched a few hours ago so she’s still in there. Thank you for the advice!

XSorry, I may have mislead a few people by accident - there are 6 eggs remaining now, only one has pipped (we had 9, 3 have hatched) Although, I don’t know which one it is now as the chicks knocked it over, and I can’t see the pip anymore. That means that there’s 5 left that are showing no signs of hatching so far and it’s day 23, apparently as we put them in on the first of the month and it takes 24 hours for the incubation process to start this means the 22nd was their “due date”. I’m thinking I should wait until tomorrow now to check the remaining 6 eggs (including the pipped one) Obviously I don’t want it to explode if there is a rotten egg but at the same time I don’t want to disturb the pipped egg yet or the chick that’s drying off (two have been moved to the brooder). Sorry, I hope this makes sense. I’m new to this and there were a few problems at the beginning of incubation so I just want to do it right

That is an incredible story, such a heartbreaking ending - I'm so sorry you lost the chick to a dog, that's awful. But it's amazing that it pulled through and you saved it. You seem like such a lovely person!!Ah, new parenthood. Lots to worry about but it all works out in the end. I do not incubate eggs but I have stolen from select hens at our pasture a few times (I live tropics and we have wild chickens EVERYWHERE) to put under a broody hen of mine. I had no idea about the humidity levels being so important. I say this is because the last time I stole 4 eggs and they started to hatch a few days later. The hen rejected them, killed one and wounder another badly- lost 2nd after a week and a half, so technically 2 died- One egg was unhatched and I had no means of finishing it so I stuck it under our desk light after replacing the bulb with a non energy efficient 60w. The egg started to pip hours later and then stopped for hours, I was not sure at all if it was going to make it and me helping it seemed its best chance. After a few hours and slowly pealing it out I then put it on a heating pad with a soft towel and siblings. It made it! -till (DH's) stupid dog killed it months later...
In the end we had 6 chicks out of 9 hatch. 3 boys, 3 girls. They're happy and healthy and adorable! They're very playful, we're in love with them. We checked the remaining 3 eggs as it wasn't obvious if they'd passed or not and they were unfortunately unable to position themselves in the egg and died. It was very sad but I'm so thankful that we have 6 healthy chicks. Thank you so much for all the support. It's much appreciated. I did a little photoshoot with the chicks, I'll try and upload the pics
