My year and a half old female black Swedish duck started to get really quiet and she is having these really weird poops. A picture of one of her recent poops is shown above. Their white and rubbery and some liquid comes out of her but the main part is the weird rubbery white part. I don’t know if she’s sick and I’m pretty sure no
Vets near me will take her in to look at her and I’m so scared. I really hope she’s not sick but she’s having these weird poops and she’s being really quiet. Normally when I walk out into the backyard she quacks so loud in excitement, but when I walked out today she was incredibly silent and she was laying down. She can still walk and preen her feathers, but I’m just concerned about her bowel movements. Can someone please help me and give me answers ? I’m really desperate I love her so much and I don’t want anything to happen to her. :( I also don't understand why she's so quiet, it's like she's uncomfterable in some way. It's really scary to see her act so unusual, someone please help
me and give me answers. Thank you! This is what one of her poops looks like: 6E4088B0-6D74-472A-BF13-F91F0A17E093.jpeg

When was the last time she layed an egg? That looks more like an unformed egg then poop. is she eating and drinking normal? What kind of feed do you have her on?

Tagging @casportpony she is the poop inspector! Maybe @Ravynscroft or @CayugaJana could help as well @Miss Lydia for the morning shift tomorrow!!

Thank you for your help! She usually lays every 1-2 days, but I haven't seen her lay an egg in about 3 days. Is she going to be okay? If it was an unformed egg, wouldn't it be a bit bigger? I'm not sure. I just hope she's not sick. I also don't understand why she wasn't quacking/ being vocal, because she's usually really loud. She does seem to be eating and drinking normally, so I'm not that concerned about that. I'm more just worried about what came out of her and the fact she hasn't played in 3 days. And thank you for the information!

I agree that looks more like a improperly developed egg. There were a couple times that I noticed one of my girls laying down more than normal and it always turned out to be A stuck egg.

Wait so is there an egg stuck in her? She seems to be drinking normally, and eating aswell. Is that a good thing? She also seems fine, she's preening her feathers and swimming like normal, but she isn't making as much noise. She's usually a really good layer, laying every 1-2 days but I haven't seen her lay in about 3 days. Is that a bad sign?

It looks like she may be egg bound, most likely not sick. That wasn't poop that was a soft shell that came out, meaning she's having trouble forming an egg. That would be why she hasn't laid in 3 days. Does she have access to oyster shell? I've seen many people bring their ducks inside when they are egg bound and let them sit in the tub with warm water, supposedly it helps. :)

If she’s egg bound does that mean she’s hurting? Is it fatal? Is it cureable? Please respond! Thank you!

I understand your worry, I have had this happen to me. What feed is she on? And does she have access to oyster shells? Have there been any change in routine that could be the causing stress? How many ducks do you have?

What is happening is that her body is not producing enough calcium to cover the egg she is trying to make. Access to oyster shells is good to have because it gives her the added calcium she needs, she knows when she needs it and will eat it if available.

It won't hurt to try and give her a warm bath, it can be relaxing for her.
