PLEASE HELPThere is something wrong somewhere in my chicken. In the morning she still has a little ball of food in her crop, but if I wait until 9 or 10 in the morning she's digested most of it, and if I give her a spice mix with a syringe it will disintegrate. If I do nothing and feed her she can still get food and water down. But the next morning she's got a ball again! And she's been having MASSIVE wet poops (not cecal) that shoot out with a big fart. The weird thing is, is that she doesn't act sick at all. She's always looking for treats, wanders around the yard, steals things from my other chicken, and is basically just herself. But I know stuff in the crop in the morning is a bad sign I can't ignore. I'm sorry for it being so long but I have spent weeks trying to figure out what's wrong.

What's in the spice mix and how much feed do you feed her when you do? Chickens need about 4 Oz quarter cup of food a day. Good for you caring for that chicken. :]
What's in the feed?

How old is this hen?

It's not unusual for grit and some food to be let over in the crop in the morning. The fact that it does go down is a good sign that she's functioning okay.

Wet poops don't mean a lot absent lethargic behavior. Foods high in water content and warm days that prompt a chicken to drink a lot of water all produce watery poop. I had a hen who lived for ten years without producing even a handful of solid poop. She was never sick a day in her decade of life.

It's 1/16tsp cayenne pepper, 1/16 ginger 1/16 cinnamon, and a tsp of of lemon juice. I feed her about 119g or 4.2 Oz per day. She always wants more too, I was thinking about giving her a third feeding around noon because she fills up on water and I want to put on some extra weight before winter because she doesn't have much down feathers.

OK, sounds tasty, what's the spice mix for? I know a lot of people take a similar mix for weight loss, (Don't know ig it works) so you might want to drop it. What feed do you feed her? Try feeding unmedicated chick starter for extra protein for feathers and weight gain.

I have no idea her age. I found her walking down the street in March. Shes got no upper beak, so I feed her twice a day by hand. She drinks until she's throwing up most days. I feel like she's older but I could be wrong. The vet that no longer is willing to see chickens couldn't say either. Her growth is definitely stunted for her breed.

Spice mix is because I thought it to be doughy crop. Thinking it's just dried food now that it loostens a lot if I withold feeding and get her to drink first and wait a bit. I just switched to a feed with more protein and she's giving me yellow diarrhea. Ive seen her shove her face in the dirt but maybe she needs more grit? Can I hand feed her grit if she eats some out of my hand? Will she know to stop when it's enough?
