Hi! Well I guess I belong here haha I know nothing about geese - these are my first- and was told by the person I bought my geese from they were one type of geese only to find out from BYC ( lol smh haha) that isn't so... O well they are very charming and love bugs we love them to pieces - . I just really feel kinda dumb about not knowing what they were! Ugh
Annnny ways- they are 6 weeks old -Lady - who I've been told is really a Pomeranian buff ? We also have - Lucy -she's a buff of some sort ( American / or Pomeranian ) and Toulouse mix . Here are pics of both

We got not babies out of this nest this year. Birds are molting now and I am considering a new gander for next spring. The goose here has pink feet and a single lobe but the male is orange on feet and bill. He does have a bit of a rosy point to it but since they aren't bonded I'd like to try out another guy.

Hi I just bought 2 buff Pomeranian geese yesterday at a chicken swap they are about 7-9 weeks old . I have never had geese before and was wondering what I need to do to make them trust me and let me love on them ? Thanks for any help

anyone from Ohio need gray or buff Pomeranians? I still have 14 to move yet. reasonably priced, all this years hatch. PM me if interested. Shipping costs and low price of birds, make it impossible to ship.

Hand feed, spend time with them often, stay low, sit, talk a lot but not loud and screamy-- no one likes that. At this age if they were raised by their momma they might take a long time. I had some geese that had been with their mom for two weeks and were hard to win but it happened. It took me going out and having a routine they could feel safe knowing and then being patient. Look up Celtic Oaks or Goose and Fig in here. They have some great info! Also, if they do decide to nibble on you make sure it isn't hard or just say no and push their beaks off. You don't want a goose thinking its okay to bite. They aren't dogs, or cats, so they aren't going to be cuddly. Make sure not to turn your back on them at first.

The best thing to do with gosling that old is to sit in a chair and talk to them. Then have some yummy treats for them that you can drop down in front of you. This way you get them use to you and that you are the treat person. They love romaine lettuce, kale, turnip greens, watermelon, red grapes cut in half, cook corn not much just some, peas, tomatoes cut up and there are a lot more things. But do not give spinach too much iron.
They will love you for the yummies and learn to come running to you. Good Luck.

On their second day on the pond, one of my poms injured its footOn the left foot the outside toe is seperated from the webbng. I'm guessing it stepped on somwthing that punctured then ropped out. Is there anything that can be done other than let it heal. It walked back to the barn with a slight limp.

Is your pond a natural one? If so it can be a snapping turtle biting the feet. Snapping turtles can bite the whole foot or leg off. Just keep an eye out.
Because we have a man made small pond and believe it or not there is a baby snapper in there and we have to get it out xomehow. That is the question is how??? It is too tiny to call The Turtleman...
