possible impacted crop

Hello, if it is indeed the crop....it should be empty in the morning.. I did surgery on my chicken. I bought a scalpel at the medical supply store. My vet gave me two Lines of dissolvable,stitches with the curved needle attached. My kids and I sterilized the,counter and,the,chicken. Then I freaked out as,I stood over my Ruby with the blade,and looked,at,all the tiny veins on her chest..my kids,shouted "you can do it Mom!" We layed her down and put a,towel over her head. I made a,1 1/2 cut in her outer skin then carefully cut into her crop...I used my fingers,and hemostats to pull loads of grass and,stuff out. Then I rinsed out the inside of the crop with sterile,water. Then I sewed up the crop then the outer skin . It took about a half hour. Four months later she's doing fine. The feathers,still have not come back. I gave her,antibiotics for,a,week after. And yogurt. The vet wanted to charge me,$700 and I just,didn't have the money. I tried everthibg , turning her upside down, massage, oil...nothing would budge the,squishy mass...it was,either she dies or I cut...so I did it.

Be extremely careful to get the tube past the small hole in back of her throat or she will aspirate. I hold the neck straight up with beak pointing to the sky. When you pull out make,sure you don't bring any water back up with the tube. Good luck.
 
I got about 50ml in her. It was easier than i thought. Her crop went from a hard lump to feeling like a water baloon with pebbles. There isn't any grass in their run so its not a wad of that. It feels like it's maybe scratch in there? How long will it be before i know if it worked? She had a small watery poo as soon as i put her back in the crate. I bought some applesauce and yogurt with cultures. How soob before i can give her that? I haven't given her anything but all that water and some water with molassas in 24hrs.

Repeat as soon as the fluids clears from her crop. If food doesn't start moving through there is a good chance that she has some type of obstruction, which could be anywhere.

If it doesn't start moving, is it worth trying surgery? If there is an obstruction then the crop will just impact again i would think. I thought i felt something firm in her abdomen about the size of my thumb but when i put my finger in to try to find it, nothing was there.
