Hi! So this is my first year owning chicks/chickens, and I cannot for the LIFE of me tell if my Plymouth Barred Rock chicken is a cockerell or a pullet, I'd super appreciate some help with it! Thank you bunches in advance!

With barred rocks, you can tell due to the barring. A males is “lighter” bc the bars of white are wider. The males get two copies of the barring gene as I understand, making the bars wider. I have barred rock females, so some experience, but have never had a BR male. since we don’t know age, and don't have another BR in pic for comparison, my guess is female, but it’s just a guess. Others with more experience can chime in.

Acre is correct. Males are white with black bars, females are black with white bars. I would say you have a pullet there. I had a barred rock cockeral and you could tell when he was about 5 weeks old. He had a larger comb and whiter appearance than the females.

Him at 4 weeks:
