PUPPIES HERE NOW...C SECTION.....PUPPY PICS..ABBY HOME

I had to leave for awhile and ran in to check when I got home. I had a feeling when you were gone for so long that there was a problem. So sorry that things didn't go well. At least you have some of the puppies and Abby will be ok. Be sure you wipe them with a warm wet washcloth to help them go potty after they eat. I've never raised puppies on the bottle, but I've raised a lot of orphan kittens and when they're this young they can't go by themselves.

Whew!!! I am so happy Abby is OK, and that you have some healthy puppies! I had subscribed to this thread and was getting very worried...I had a feeling that she had gone to the vet.

You did the right thing. You will have Abby back soon, and will have a wonderful puppy adventure ahead of you! CONGRATULATIONS!

Do you mean I need to rub them with a warm wash cloth to get them to poop? They have all tt'd already. Will they poop even though they are not drinking enough milk to? I have gotten like 4 of them to suck on bottle but they want mama or my earlobe whichever.

Yes, you need to wipe them with a wet washcloth to stimulate them to poop. Even if they haven't drank much yet, they still have that dark colored poop...starts with a m, but I can't remember the name of it that all new mammal babies have. Remember when your kids were newborns? Not a fun job, but they need it done after they eat for sure. Usually between the nursing and wiping that triggers something in them and they'll go without much problem.

Myconium - first poo.

So sorry things went this way but you have some beautiful survivors there. Why didn't they stay with mom? In the years I was a tech, we always left the pups with the mom...

Congrats on your pups! I'm sorry Abby had such a rough time though and all of them didn't make it. I too am surprised they didn't keep the pups with her. I had a Sheltie need an emergency c-section on the Sat before Easter one year (11pm)....I loved that vet!

It was just him and me and he used gas - she was out and puppies out and stitched up in no time. As soon as she started rousing we left together and were home by 12:30 am.

In her case, she had a deformed pup blocking the birth canal - it looked like a siamese twin that didn't fully separate or something - definately not a viable pup, and about 2x bigger than any of the rest of the pups.

She had been in labor for all day and had delivered 2 pups and the third one was the deformed one. There were 3 more pups behind that one.
