It got cool here too! I cooled down the house with open windows and a fan; had to shut everything because it was going a bit too far.

Tomorrow is integration day. I'm a bit nervous, TBH. :hmm
Good morning and good luck,
I took 2 or 3 days of setting a pen in the run so the hens could look at the chicks.
The older flock only pecks at the younger if they are wanting them to move out of their way / space, they never flat out tried to attack them, just " fine, your here, but MOVE!" hahaha

I'm building a brooder/growout pen inside the coop. It'll be in there permanently, but I'll take down the hardware cloth separation so that it doesn't take up floor space.

I think the plan will be to move them out there shortly after lunch. I'll get everything set up today/tomorrow morning.

Good to know, I am just wondering, getting a feel for how they are going to be.

They are still pretty young! Here is one of my hens @ a year old. They are good layers, might not be as good as a white Leghorn, but I think that they are a little more easy-going than the Whites in a mixed flock. The White Rocks are the top birds in my mixed flock of Barred Hollands, Naked Necks, and 1 brown sex-link. Barred Hollands are the mildest-mannered and are picked on by all the others. If I did not have a rooster to break it up, I might have had to separate them out from the hatchery birds. The Brown Leghorns and the sex-link are my egg insurance, I knew I would have nice eggs every day from those guys. Turns out that some of the largest & nicest eggs are from the Naked Necks. The Barred Hollands are for rare & cool factor, they lay the smallest eggs.

That is awesome! you have a great mix. Well I will be happy when the whites let the browns sleep on the roost without me intervening :gig
