Rescued from Snow Storm...what am I? UPDATE Chickens were Dumped!!

Animal lover or not, there is no excuse for that kind of treatment. I've actually watched somebody dump their dog off in our neighborhood. The Humane Society is not even a mile away.

Our milk hauler got his chickens that way! There had been roughly 30 of them dropped off. They managed to get some of them before the prediators.

Gosh that's a mighty nice find. I thought your wife might have been pulling your leg, sorry. I hope you find some more, I can't...well yes I can believe that someone dumps animals. It's really inhumane. Good luck!

If the weather's moderated a bit, I guess if I were you my first thought would be to put the roo in a small cage; small enough to be fairly easy to carry; and maybe take him back to that area where you found him; carry him around a bit; chances are he'd make a little noise and it might attract some of the others, or, if you're really lucky, they might at least make a noise back; that is, if any are still alive. Don't know what the layout of the area is, but it might work. Some people are idiots, who could do such a thing and still sleep at night?

I thought you did by your response. She is great but she wouldn't go out of her way to acquire another chicken. She would rescue an animal though even if it meant we had to keep it.

Few years back we had first pick on a litter of beagles. Registered, champion hunting lines. We go to pick one out, I am all giddy.....then the smallest, weakest one, drags it's bones over to her and rests it's head on her knee....It was all over. We get the pick of the litter and came home with the runt.... Not sure what that says about me...

Looks like a Golden Laced Polist Rooster to me. Good thing your wife found him, the poor thing could have froze to death. He sure is a good looking bird, with a beautiful crest, I have tons of polish but only one female GL but I ordered a bunch more MMH
