Ribh's D'Coopage

I wish I could send all our rain to Australia for you guys! It’s so wet here that no one is even protesting being left inside an extra 2&1/2 hours this morning while I brace myself for the outside with some coffee.

We are so blessed here. We have had some rain with a little more expected today, smoke haze but no fires, & a breeze most days.

:barnie:he
So I have 2 barred rocks in broody jail. We are sitting on 28C waiting on the sea breeze to kick in @ 8am & I go out to check on my girls, do a head count & water down the run.

No surprise to find a Campine missing!

Ha'penny. She doesn't normally go far but I called & called & no chookie came running for an expected treat. :he

I walked round & round my yard. Of course it would be a Campine ~ who just blends into everything. After 20 minutes I'm starting to worry. An hour & I'm thinking I've lost her & I never heard a thing!:barnie

I must have nearly stepped on her a dozen times.

Ten[that's right 10] b... roo...dy eggs under her! She had them all covered too. *sigh*
I'm beside myself with these chooks!
Campines are not generally a broody breed.

I do my best to ensure they are safe & well cared for & this! This is what they do!!!!

I am hot & bothered & Ha'penny is back in the run where she belongs.

Ha'penny is a real sneak. She must have been squirreling those away for a long time. Sneaking out and sneaking back in so you didn't know. Like a teenage daughter. Maybe you should ground her. :lau

I bet you were as frantic as I was when my youngest daughter was out too late as well.
:hugs

At least 2 weeks! :( Yep. Frantic is the word. We don't have too many predators & they avoid the house & yard where there are cats & humans but a chook off on her own is vulnerable.

But, she’s just trying to get you more chickens to pamper... glad she is safe! I always had a panic when Hoppy or Zeta would wander off from the rest and hide somewhere.

I've been meaning to say Kris that I do read your thread but I have trouble keeping up with the threads I post on now.
I'm glad you come and post on By Bob's MJ's and Ribh's.

Not too much going on with me Chicken wise or on my thread lately, and I’m over “here” and on Bob’s thread more than there right now. Going to have a house update soon though, and planning on getting some chicken Bio’s going soon I hope. I have promised the girls not too many unflattering molting pictures though.
