Somtimes they need to be trimed..Mine are protective caged or watched while free ranging because they could not protect themselfs very well from somthing after them. As long as mine can see how to eat and drink and get to bed I don't bother their crest but if they are having trouble I trim mine.

Well, i did it, just put in my order for 15 self-blue (lavender) silkie chicks from Ideal. They will ship on March 18th. i was pondering ordering just 10, but thought what the heck, with 15 i should be able to get a few nice birds and then rehome the rest.

i'm very excited!

Does Ideal Poultry still have lavender (self blue) chicks?
