Setting the week of August 22 (or so... ) Everyone join!! You know you want to!

Another question...can I incubate the eggs in the modified egg carton? I have read so much it is all blurring together at this point. How do I turn them? Or after settling for a couple days do I take them out and lay them on their side then start turning. Or one person said she left them in the egg carton but used a knife to gently prop up one side then moved it to another. So much anxiety...
Yes, you can incubate them in the carton. I tilt them a bit, so they're not sitting straight up and down, but pretty much so. And yes, you can just tilt the carton side to side to *turn* them...or gently "roll" them so the other side is up. Either way would be fine, I think, just be gentle with them.

If you don't turn them for the first few days, they won't be in danger of sticking, BTW. You will want to be diligent and turn them at least twice a day after that though (everyone says 3 times a day, so you might want to go with that), to shift the baby around in there.

This is my third Serama hatch...I got 7 of 11 the first time, and then only got 1 in the second hatch, but I am confident that this hatch will go better than the last one ^..^ My single baby I got from my last hatch is an adorable tiny tiny black silkied one, and I am thrilled with her :D

Hey guys! Can I join? I probly wont be starting up till saturday, sunday, or monday, but I would really like to join. I ordered 12 Buff orp eggs from Hink-JC. This is not my first time hatching eggs, but it IS my first time hatching shipped eggs. I am using a Brinsea mini ECO, and I am hoping for the best, both for myself and for all of you guys!

I am expecting 12 (shipped) wheaten ameraucana eggs on Friday, and I picked up 12 BCM eggs today from a local breeder. I'm going to put them all in the incubator either late Friday or Saturday. This is my first time hatching (actually second sort of, but first time I bought fertile eggs from the farmers market but they must have been infertile or roughly handled because I never got anywhere on them- no development at all. So now I'm trying with "real" eggs and hoping for newbie luck..!

Ok aschenfire and dandy doodle you guys sucked me in.....lol. I joined in the July hatch with my quails, which are doing fantastic by the way. Anyway, coworker at work wants some chicks so I told her I would set some eggs out of my barred rock and golden sex link hens crossed to my rooster. I keep forgetting his breed,it's not terribly common. He's pretty crazy looking, white with black spots and a Mohawk of whit feathers on his head. Any I will probably be setting 10-12 eggs on the 24th. I'm excited to try chickens after the quail went so well.

Can I join? I'm setting 42 eggs on friday. This will be my 3rd hatch. 1st time I got 17 outta 42. 2nd time I got 5 outta 42. So this time I'm praying to get atleast 50% and if all goes well my next batch will be shipped eggs. :fl
I'll be setting 12 easter eggers,
12 bantam black orpingtons, 12 buff orpingtions, and 6 barnyard mutts.
