Just got home. No pips. No movement. I candled to see if it broke through the air sac - no such thing. It's almost 10:00 meaning it will run out of air soon... Should I try opening the blackout eggs? No cheeping or peeping or anything. I'll keep y'all updated though.

I think I messed up. 3 of the six that made it to lock down have pipped the outer shell, including the one with the air sac on the side. I'm so worried about the weird one that I tried to help. Yeah I know I should just leave her alone. Because the air sac is in the wrong place she skipped pipping into it and went straight for the outer shell so I thought she may sufficate. I tried to make sure the was at least a small hole in the membrane so that she could breath. There is still blood in there! I guess her pipping through the shell was her trying to pip the air sac...so from what I found out she could still have at least another 24 hrs before shes really ready to come out. Humidity stays at 60-65 so I think she should be ok, I really hope I didn't mess anything up.

Are you in lockdown? If so don't try and help one chick you will jeopardizes others from hatching. One of the big mistakes I made. :/

For those of you with large fowl (not Serama or tiny bantams) PLEASE give them a chance to hatch on their own. The more you open that incubator, the more likely you are to jeopardize the hatch. Tiny birds will sometimes...and I said sometimes....need more help than normal sized birds, but even with odd aircells....if they have made it this far, most likely, even if they pip in the wrong spot, they will be fine.

My babies! out of 6 (of one kind) I put in the incubator, 4 made it to lock down and all hatched!

The rest of them are still cooking

Those chicks are so cute !!

And sadly I just tried to help my bantams - all of the blackouts haven't pipped the air cell. They should be okay, but that leaves the remaining question of what the heck was that peeping/chirping I heard ? I'm camping next to the bator again, completely shattered the chirping chick is dead... Whatever it was, it ain't here anymore... ):

what day are you on, again? The bantams should be ok if you did not go too far with helping...never keep trying if you see blood, and make sure the humidity stays up.

only 18. I know they usually don't hatch/pip now, but i swear I heard chirping last night and even a bit this morning. It wasn't my bantams though. No blood seen, and they're fairly small holes and the humidity is 60%
