With Spring at our doorsteps, I'm considering my options for shading my Silkies from the sun. They stay in a 10x10 kennel, and I purchased a kennel cover back in early January.
I've considered using the tarp idea, but then I read where someone mentioned trying climbing peas. Has anyone here ever done this? Would you say it's worth trying, or just go straight for the tarp? I garden every year, so anything using live plants is always more appealing to me.
Also, I'm wondering which side is the most important to cover. I was thinking the east facing side? I have a pecan tree right over the southeast side of the pen, so I think that's going to help some in the evenings.
Thanks in advance for an information you can share!
