The bloodhound has been on the want list for decades. Hubs works closely with the police departments around here and has been talking to a state patrol officer for a few years about wanting one. That particular officer has 5 (+24 puppies) right now. His first male was not genetically sound sadly. His replacement breeder is the dad to all those puppies.

The Malamute are my son's favorite breed. He works, can afford them and how could I say no?

That makes sense!! That sounds like a good idea then!! Does he do like search and rescue? Have you seen @oldhenlikesdogs hound thread? You will have to post there too when you get one. and that is a lot of puppies!

And makes total sense! Malamutes are adorable!! Those puppies. OMG.

I love large dogs, we had a Black Lab/Great Pyrenees mix for 6 1/2 years, had to put him down in December. He was like 140 pounds lol he was amazing but I think I’m gonna go for something a little smaller if/when I ever get another dog. Idk if it’ll quite be a “little dog” but at least like Golden or BC size or smaller lol who knows, maybe I’ll get a Shih Tzu.

The officer has dogs from breeders whose dogs are in search and rescue as well as shows.
We have talked about having ours do search and rescue but that is very time intensive training so with so many dogs would be difficult at best.

I had not seen OHLD's thread....she is holding out on me.

We have a coon hound airedale mix. She is a really sweet dog....all 90#'s of her. She sleeps in the humans bed lol!

We had talked about getting SMALLER dogs like the Fox terrier size. I guess maybe I was the only one in that conversation.
