I honestly don’t think the barking would be too bad. I think, like any dog, they could be trained to be quiet. I even know of someone who trained their Great Pyrenees barking was not allowed inside the house but still does his job outside perfectly. Dogs are smart. Also individuals do bark more or less than others. But I tend not to believe most things people say lolI think I've run through every possible breed.
I was thinking about a sheltie but all the barking. I don't like excessive barking. Corgi too, same problems.
I want a dog that isn't gonna wander off and is people oriented. I'm over wondering where the dog got to, so no more hounds.
I like my boxers and Australian shepherds but they are getting to be too big. I also want longevity. I'm looking for a quiet lap dog that doesn't need too much exercise, and gets along with other dogs. No too small because I have bigger dogs yet. Something sturdy. Not wanting to sleep in the bed is a plus too. Our bed is full currently.
It's all theoretical for now as we are full with 7 dogs.
Maybe you could get a Miniature American Shepherd? They’re like Mini Aussie but branched off into a separate breed and they are smaller and reputable people are breeding them. And honestly same for Mini Aussies despite what people say because the working registry still accepts them. Although with those they are harder to find reputable ones because of BYBs and stuff, some are mixes, but essentially they used to all be Mini Aussies until the name change but some breeders never changed with it. Doesn’t make them bad. I would NOT go with a “toy” Aussie though as those are definitely mixed but I really think you would like a Mini American or Aussie.I think I've run through every possible breed.

Bad enough my Aussie Sunny barks whenever I say Doris Day. Dogs are goofy critters. I've enjoyed my Australian shepherds, but I'd prefer a less challenging breed. Everyone of them didn't mind starting a fight if the conditions are right. Plus I will never get another Sunny. She has been the best as far as being nearly human at times. Any other Aussies would not measure up. My newest one Pepper is a good dog but she plays rough with the little dogs. I don't like that.
My boxers never bark except when chasing cats and squirrels. I'm used to that type of quiet. Bostons fall in between. They bark more than I like, but I can forgive them because they are adorable.
there are good ones and there’s one group in particular that I do like but yeah… dogbook is… interesting 
or even if you got like a spaniel or something slightly smaller but still big hahah he does cry/whine if he’s inside or leashed and can’t get to them lol but mostly he just rockets after them when he can in silence LOL
Those are both adorable. The smelly big face makes me a bit concerned too. I've groomed a lot of them. Most seemed healthy, but never having owned one I'm not sure.
