That is awful generous of you Havoc! I couldn't take one of those nice hens. I have one from eggs that I got from SDM, that looks just like the hens you shared with the Grey. She doesn't have spurs though.

Spurred hens are something I would consider an advantage to have. Most my dark legs are spurred. yellow leg hens dont seem to get them on my yard.
Interesting. I had to go check some spurs my grandfather saved for me when I was a little kid. When his original pair of brood fowl died, he saved me the spurs from the hen and cock. The hen had yellow spurs, but the cock had black spurs. This is many years ago and he just called them Reds.
 
Very interesting... I dont know if yellow leg roosters produce black spurs ever...
Chance he had two different breeds as his broodfowl?

I save all the spurs from my dead roosters.. Sadly its a pretty good collection.

I think the double spur trait in a hen comes from inbreeding in any color legs . Some clarets and the line of hugh Norman lacy rh are white legged with black spurs
