Havnt had any of those problems if a branch or anything falls or whatever and is laying on the wire and ground at the same time it'll ground out and be very weak in voltage. With the gates and stuff they probably thought of that and has something for that

Here is the stuff I use from TSC. http://www.tractorsupply.com/en/sto...mak-electric-fence-wire-656-ft-l?cm_vc=-10005

It is a thin braided wire, maybe 1/8 diameter. I just tie it together like string.

Most fencers are pulsing for safety. There are different ratings in volts, depending on the animal you would like to stop. I have a cheap tester from TSC, and my fence lights all of the lights, 4 or 5, I forget now. That is 5000 volts. You will not want to touch it too many times... Don't ask how I know.

Thanks for the link. I was just looking at that. I was reading that thst kind of stuff is good for using with existing fences.

I have s bunch of wooden fence posts with welded wire running to the top. 4ft. How would I prevent a fox from jumping up at the wooden posts? I suppose I would have to run wires higher than the existing fence? I don't know. I really don't wanna go back and put t-posts in front of all the wooden posts. That would look ridiculous. Maybe I'm missing something. Maybe mount an insulator on top of each wooden post?

heres a pic of the yard. Any ideas?

I've never seen a adjustable fence charger, normally you buy one that will carry enough wattage to fend off animals larger than a coyote. The one I use will burn anything that touches it, I've seen the blue arc pop them but it will not kill a Chihuahua, it might think he's been shot though. TSC has gate kits, insulators, chargers, basically anything you could possibly need. The continuous current chargers are the best.

I will promise you that a fox jumping your hot wire will never happen, the first time they touch the wire will be the last time they ever come back. I don't have anything free ranging though so I do not know what will happen if a chicken hits it. You can always put a timer on it to only be on when everything is roosting
