you're talking about the flat nylon that's the good stuffWe use electric for a fruit trees and berries and have built several fences. SDM has the best approach, 110 with continuous charge. I haven't had luck with solar chargers, something always goes wrong. Ours are a distance from the house too and what we finally settled on what works best for us is a 5-10 mile fence charger that you can hook to a 12 volts deep cycle battery. You can get many months of life before recharging. SDM uses the solid wire, but I really like the thin nylon braided wire with SS wire woven into it. It is easy to work with and slightly elastic. A little piece of foil wrapped around the wire with some peanut butter is a great way to train the animals it's HOT.
