Yeah if I were you I'd be steeping up pen size that is pretty darn tight.
They get free-range time and cock suppresses . moderates the very same problem the tight confines normally causes. Culling will be employed very soon and some will be pulled for teaching efforts and placed in another location.
 
Just got fifteen blue miners, and wanting to Cross them for the gf. I have Bates hatch, Bennett grey, and Albany. What do yall think will be best? Thus is an Albany Bates cross i bed to grey Bates Crosses this year.

Your blues should be good with any of them, it'll be up to you to decide which one you like the best. What Albany blood do you have? Do you Bates come peacomb or straight comb?

About a week ago I placed a cock in with about 35 young juveniles where about 1/2 are games to suppress the mutually assured ass kicking they were trying to deliver. Cock got things settled withing 48 hours, would have been quicker if he was added sooner. What has happened since is he went full on broody trying cover whole bunch when they roost in corner of pen. Until 2 days ago he was roosting up by himself on a milk crate. Pen is tight (3' x 4') so likely part of equation.
Sometimes an older stag works best because he's not trying to breed everything.
