SHOW OFF YOUR YUM! Food Photography Thread

Nothing to brag about but just wanted to share anyways. Heated 2 frozen Beef Tamales. These are REAL ONES and they came in natural corn husks. I used the plate in the microwave. That is why I just LUV those Corelle. Threw out the corn husks and put some Medium Salsa Verde. Then I ate them. :drool:gig:lau
This was just a snack BTW. I first polished off a good size bowl of chicken soup. No pix of soup since it looks the same as the bowl of chicken soup I posted previously. :idunnoView attachment 1298171

Oh I LOOOOOOOOOVE tamales!!!! :love:drool

That's so pretty Connie!!! :clap

:lau:gig

Here is some gruel DW made. It is supposed to be soup, but she overloads it with goodies, so it is kind of thick. :love

Pickle soup.
We use pickles in brine, rather than standard pickles in vinegar. This is OLE SKOOL soup my mother used to make. She also used to make (can) her own pickles in brine. Pickles in brine may not be available nationwide, but around here in Chitown with a large Euro population it is available in the delis. It can be made with regular pickles but will taste different then mom's :old
Shred the pickles on a cheese grater.
Add the water from jar. It is salty, so no need to add any more salt to soup. You can also hold off on the salt water or use less amount. We make a large pot, so all of it goes in.
Assorted veggies,,,, carrots, celery, potato, anything else extra in fridge will enhance soup. Had some dill and sorrel available on hand.
A descent quantity of rice. DW always likes to put in more,:hugs
Whatever slab of soup meat available,, :idunno Chicken beef, pork.
Cook slowly for a good while until you get soo hungry you just have to pour a bowl for self.:clap
We make our own croûtons from rye bread. They are skillet toasted in butter. :drool These are the lil things that look like dark cubes in soup.

Had a piece of Reuben stromboli for dinner, thanks for the recipe @N F C
This is sooooo heavy, shoulda skipped the potato salad. We are stuffed!

My SIL bought me some frozen pot stickers. The recipes that came with them said I could make wonton soup, so I went way, WAY out of my comfort zone last night. I made wonton soup, fried rice, sautéed vegis, & battered/breaded pan fried tofu. It took forever. I'll never complain about the price of Chinese food again!

Hope I don't get beat up for this. I was bz in the yard doing yard work all day. DW had to work, :(,,,,,, No time for cooking, so I suggested if it would be OK if just went and grabbed some Little Caesar's Pizzas. This franchise seems to be nationwide. :idunno It's everywhere I turn. (different states).. 30+ years ago I only encountered it in Detroit and other towns in Michigan. Here is that dish... It tasted mity fine for us. :drool
