Ah, yes. The Halloween hatch. Mine are in the coop. They were on the porch for a few days, and it was pointless to keep them restricted to the brooder. Before that, they were in the house where it was 60-66* for them since two weeks. They got lucky. I occasionally toss week olds out in the winter.

So far it's been in the high '50s and '60s during the day and at night it hasn't dropped lower than 29. I'm pretty shocked at the growth rate of these chicks. Hopefully I can add them to the layer flock in another month once I know for sure that the ones I pick are pullets.

So far I've picked a lot of the feathered feet ones I just hatched and I like that white one that I posted the picture of. It just started getting that brown on its chest, It's the only one that looks like that.

Seriously, don’t take my jabber as judgement. I know the recommendation for temps and introductions. I just don’t follow them.
I honestly don't follow them either. I put chicks outside last year when they were 8 weeks old and it was 13 at night :confused:they all thrived and loved it.

I put that white chick on a thread to tell people to sex it so far they've said cockerel. What they don't realize is that all my birds are pretty much huge! At 15 days I had a sibling to that chick that was about the same size :eek:and the same size comb...
