What was the date and time that you put the eggs under the hen? What breed of hen?

They are silkies, they were posted to us on Tuesday arrived Friday the 1st so we let them rest for 24 hours and they went under at like 8am on the 2nd.

OK so they should have hatched Saturday morning.
I knew the eggs were silkies. I asked what breed the setting hen was.
The eggs are now 2 days late. I hate to tell you this but they probably are lost.
I would normally say to let them sit for a couple more days in an incubator but I don't want to do that to a broody hen.
Hopefully one or two will hatch but if it doesn't, I would either break the broody or get a couple day old chicks for her to raise.

You said there was a pip... any updates?

I would get some day old chicks if I were you or break the broody if the chicks don't hatch in the next couple days. I honestly would do the day old chick idea just because that broody has been sitting on those eggs for so long and I'd want to reward her with chicks.

So I just want to say again that I couldn’t see movement for days before I went into lockdown with Pippi Longshot. But the egg was full of shadow so I gave him a chance. He’s 12 weeks old now.

But if there are no hatches I would definitely reward her with a few day old chicks.

No hatch yet but we can hear him or her peeping inside the egg!
