I have a Leghorn that keeps finding her way out of her pen. After she gets out she tries to figure out how to get back in. I haven't found how she is getting out. Some years ago I had two Leghorns, Houdini-1 and Houdini-2. No matter what coop and pen I put them in they would always find a way out, escape artists. They got out one too many times and one just disappeared and the other only feathers behind the coop. Probably either a fox or coyote. The birds have nice large shady pens and plenty of food, water and treats.
My experience has told me that Leghorns are naturally curious and very smart. They fly well and are skinny. Many of them are well known as escape artists. They have all the tools necessary and really don't care to be confined despite what the breeders would tell you.

Daisy has flown the coop! Actually she flew over the fence of their yard and as soon as she was free she tried to return 😄...this was the other day.. my mom saw her out and came to tell me “one of your chickens is out”
First ever chicken to do this! Of course it was the Leghorn 🤦‍♀️

This morning, as I sit with my coffee ( I got up at 5:30am) I have not been out to the coop yet, I figure the chicks are 7 & 6 weeks old, can deal with the morning, I can have my coffee before I go out--☕
WELL! there has been the normal LOUD egg laying chorus being loudly sung for all in a 5 mile radius to hear--

I hear,,,,,,,,,,,, a young voice cackle/ chirp/ Peep- one of the 7week old Brown leghorns is trying to cluck Hahahahahaha

This is the end of my white leghorn story for now
I hope you have enjoyed the adventure
there is 104 pages of chicken raising & keeping
its been fun
