Oh Boy!
Do I have a few stories. I work shift work so my sleep schedule is often broken, shortened and otherwise thrown way off. Sometimes when I go 36 hours or so with out sleep, and then go to sleep, I have REAL vivid dreams. I have awaken myself several times in the middle of a dream, talking.
Okay I quit smoking. Had a real tough time with it, the monkey was on my back bad, real bad. But I got through it.
Several years later, durring a time as I described earlier, I dreamed I was smoking a cigarette. Man that thing tasted good, I was taking big deep drags, and I could feel the nicotine coursing through my viens. Man I was in heaven, the smell was so good. Then I woke up from my dream, and in those few seconds when you are between awake and sleep, I realised that I had my fingers poised to my lips as if I was holding a cigarette up for a buff. I swear I had the taste of a half smoked cigarette in my mouth. But I had no cigarette in my fingers-- instantly while not fully awake I came to the conclussion that I had dropped the cigarette in bed. We were going to die becasue the bed was fixin to burst into flames. I jump up tearing the sheets, blanket and bedspread from the mattress. Turning on the light I am screaming at my wife to get up get up get up before you get burnt. Naturally she wakes up startled to say the least, wanting to know what in the world is going on. I begin telling her that I dropped a cigarette in the bed, which by the time I got the statement out, I had come to the realization that I was dreaming.
The swelling was mostly gone by morning, but the knot on my head took about a week to heal, slept on the couch the rest of the night.
Next thing that is memorable.
Once again sleep deprived.
My wife was still working then, she is retired now, but I still hear about this one when she gets a little out done with me.
My wife's alarm clock goes off at about 5:00AM, doesn't use a digital clock but one of those old fashion big ben things. I dream that the alarm clock is going off, it awakens me, and in my blearie eyed view of the alarm clock it appears to be 5:05AM, in other words five minutes later than it should be. Well I don't have to go to work that day, but my wife does, so I do what a good husband should do. I gave her a shove, then a bit of a "boost" with my foot, telling get up, your late, your alarm clock went off a few minutes ago. She gets up, staggers into the bathroom, long story short she showers, she shampoos hair, all the girly things that girls do in the morning. Me I go on back to sleep. When finished her bath chores she heads to the kitchen and that's when things went down hill for me. You see their is a digital clock in the kitchen and it says it is 12:45 AM. Man can I tell you things got lively, that women was totally unreasonable, completely unhinged. I feared for my life. What happened was, when I had awaken from my dream it was 12:05 AM if you smash your head into the pillow just right it looks just like 5:05AM. She should have been a little more understanding. Dr says it's a miracle that I can still see out of that eye.
Been a few others but that's the big ones.
