Someone has listed my house for sale......???

You need to call and report it to the police. Obviously there is no legal way that they can sell your house out from under you. But this is actually something that happens fairly often.

My mom is in MO and in realestate and property management, and i think twice now she's come across listings of her houses put on craigslist by people who have no connections to the houses. She's had to file reports with the police each time.

Call your police. Call both state troopers and local police if one or the other doesnt do what you want.

hmmm....not sure if this is more civil than criminal.

Harassment usually has to be made directly to the victim. In your case the previous owners would have to be sending YOU messages or calling your home. Now if they posted your house for sale and put your phone number down which causes your phone to ring over and over then that could be harassment.

But, I think you should make police report. If they deem it is not criminal then at least you'll have their opinion before continuing with anything else.

Interesting...so the listing is removed by the Oklahoma fsbo.com but it is still on Craigslist. I am wondering if it is time to contact the people we bought the house from. I do not want to speak to them, and am not sure I can do so, civilly.

I do think they are behind it, because why else would they have been parking outside our house the past 2 weeks? We thought they were planning on coming back and taking some things off the house, but maybe they were just doing this??

Who knows! I thought it only took a few flags, and you would think Craigslist would have contacted me on Thursday when I reported it.

This is going to make me crazy til it is off Craigslist!

If you have reason to believe its the people you bought the house from then you need to not do anything more than call the police and possibly contact your local court and get a temporary protection order against them until the case can be reviewed and investigated.

Call your lawyer while you're at it. People are insane right now, especially these days, dont screw around with this stuff on your own. Call the police, get a restraining order, and call your lawyer and let him/her know whats going on so he/she can act accordingly.

Wow.

That is funny.

Not for you I know but I have never heard of this. Sorry now that I have gotten that out of my system I hope I can offer some good advice. First thing is get rid of the stress that this is causing. Look at how funny this is & have a good laugh. Then play the game instead of fight it. Go buy a SOLD sign & not a property not for sell sign. If you post a sold sign then people will just move on. If you post property not for sell then they will try to figure out what is going on & add to this posters entertainment. Next you should arm your self because these people are not normal. Then go to the police & file a restraining order on them. Even if it isn't approved then it is on record. If it is approved then what will happen next can take a few turns. Ether it cost them some money which hurts & they stop, they get mad & take it to another step, or they pay no attention to it & the restraining order must be used. I hope for the best to you. Remember not to get stressed out or they are winning the game.

Well, I wish I could take it a little bit lighter, but I don't think posting my address and pictures of the inside of my house, along with a map to get there for all of the INSANE PSYCHOS that are on Craigslist is very funny. I have kids. There are people parking outside my house and taking pictures. There is a very good chance that if someone is sneaking around my house, they could get shot. Either by us, or a neighbor. That is just not funny.

I know these people are insane. I have contacted my attorney. Nobody really seems to think it is anything more than a nuisance, and petty. I see it as way more than that. This now explains why there was a key to my front door on the porch. DH never changed the front lock, because we will have to get a new door.

So, no. I don't think it is funny, and I fail to see the humor in it.

Now that I've got THAT out of my system...my attorney said that there is no way to file a restraining order on them, since they haven't physically done anything. I filed with the FBI internet fraud, so maybe that will scare someone.

I like that idea. Call your friends, tell them what's going on too. Have them come over for what will look like a huge celebration. Let someone causually mention that it is a huge bash to celebrate your house selling for over asking price...by some crazy amount. And that it was a fluke, since you were never selling int he first place...

or...on top of calling attorney, craigslist, police, etc etc...call the local news station. In general they like showing local cases of fraud, protect the viewers from it happening to them kind of things.

If you see someone sitting outside your house, or someone taking photos - go outside and take a photo of them, and try to get a snap of their car license tag. Might not do anything, but if something further happens (God forbid) you'll have some sort of record of who was hanging around.

We have tried that, but our driveway is almost a 1/4 mile long, so they can see us coming. They drive away too fast.
