For those of you with girls who are laying, what size eggs do you get? I get small, cream colored eggs with huge yolks. The eggs are half the size of the others, but the yolks are two thirds the size. I keep them for myself because they look pretty silly in a carton, and sell my other eggs. This is an SS compared with to an ISA.View attachment 2522791
How long have yours been laying?

owning speckled sussex before they are certainly my top 3 favorite Birds! They were a joy to have through and through! I will admit they were absolute escape artists when they were younger. My biggest hen at the time named her "Snow Bird" was queen of the coop. She didn't take nothing from no one. They were to used to free ranging from a young ages and by the time they were laying I was confused as to why I wasn't getting any eggs. Low and behold I decided to watch the girls and see where they snook off to. Lowland behold a bush next to our old barn I looked and found 38 eggs! STINKERS!!! well they got extra coop time until much later in the afternoon and that helped them to start laying in the coop. Needless to say SS are an absolute favorite. Now that I have have moved I am starting a flock again along with some Barnevelders and Black Australorps I will be getting some SS's again. I'm so excited and the time is close March 15th! Hurry up! :clap

Great post!

I just love SSs!

This is Joy, my current SS. She is 3 years old and the sweetest chicken I’ve ever had.
