These chicks were hatched from an incubator on Day 26 after mom abandoned them while they were chirping in the eggs to raise her other chicks. Hatched within a few hours in the incubator. Mom had gone off all the eggs but 2 on Day 22. (2 others hatched healthy. 2 died after popping.)

my friend hatched them in her incubator late Day 26. Brought them to me the following night. They are small and we’re mostly sleeping. I worked the next day and noticed the legs on Chick 1 (silver Laced Marian) when I got home from work. Thought splay leg so I put on a splint. Next day, she was walking in her knees. Legs don’t straighten. Thinking now it was actually slipped tendon? Is it too late to correct, and if not, what do you recommend? And if it is to late to correct, what do we do now?

Chick 2 (the smaller one) is an Easter Egger. She was very tiny and still getting strength. She can stand, and has more flexibility in legs, but feet are a little crooked and her legs seem a little stiff in the knees. Has good strength in legs, but feet seem frail. Wondering if she needs a chair to help her use them more to gain strength and use her legs more? She lays around a lot and still seems very tired, but she can sit up well. Side note: something seemed wrong with one of her eyes…like she is missing her eyelid? When she closes them, the membrane goes down, but I can’t see a lid.

Thanks for your suggestions!

This was actually Day 25/26 hatch since we put the fertile eggs under her late afternoon.
