I am on day 36 with incubating an emu egg. It’s set on 96.5 degrees and humidity stays at 48-50%. I added a bowl of water so it wouldn’t lose too much water. When I got home this evening to turn it I noticed stuff was dried on the egg. It doesn’t smell but when I picked it up something literally fluttered inside. My mother came in to look at it and when she held it she felt something move too. The bowl was empty so I added more water to it. Does anyone know what may be on it?

wonder if it might be hard water ? Fluttering as in baby moving ? :D
What’s hard water? It’s like it was oozing out of the egg itself. It doesn’t smell. And I’m not sure but it did flutter inside!! So I think a baby!

I think you have a bad egg. IMO, that's albumen leaking out the pores. What is the hatching temp supposed to be for Emu? Did you calibrate your thermometer and hygrometer, and how did you do it?

Then why did I feel something flutter inside? And yes the digital thermometer is set on the temp on what it should be. It’s so far along and the oozing stuff is white not yellow and it does not have an odor.

I honestly dont know . did /does it flutter when you are holding still ? Or can you touch the egg without picking it up and feel it ? There is a water test for chicken eggs dont know how it would be w/ yours.
