Sultans!

Beautiful black Sultan!! I would like a standard black roo. Here is one of my blue Sultans.

It could be because she's still a little nervous? Mine are fine there. But pasty butt can happen to older birds as well due to stress :) Hopefully she'll feel better soon!

tmfineg, thebirdmaker posted his project birds here. Maybe he can send you eggs or something?

Just stumbled across this thread! I've got a bit of a funny sultan, not sure about its family but I got this as a hatching egg in a mixed bunch, I saw cock and hen - cock was a cuckoo too and hen was white. Then out popped my cuckoo hen! She's the only cuckoo to have come from any of the eggs laid by those two so she's an odd one :) see my avatar pic. She's only 14 weeks old so still a baby really xx

Cute! I actually would think roo, as there is a lot of red on his face, plus his crest looks spiky. My girls have a truely different look to them, and very little red on their faces. How old is he again? I took pictures of my boy today, posted in the other thread, but it wouldn't hurt to re-post here:

He's 16 1/2 weeks old today

I don't have any recent pictures of my hens, unfortunately. I'll try tomorrow, if I have time??

I would have to say that my sultan is about 4 months old, and yes, his comb does haven a spike,. Do sultans not have the classic roo feathers like normal chickens do? I figured this was a hen because the tail feathers arent lookin like the rooster feathers!

Sounds like he's about the same age as mine, and it seems that mine is just starting to grow out his tail feathers. Yes, then should have longer tail feathers and their crest is spikier as the feathers are thinner and longer. Is your boy not crowing yet? Are there other boys around that are more dominant or even dominant hens? That can keep them from crowing.... At 16 weeks, none of my hens have much red on them, though some are getting a bit on the sides of their beaks. Almost no color though, especially in their comb area (which is still small)

Charlie's tail looks like yours at the moment :)

no, I only have one other boy thats fairly dominant, the rest are hens. I'll try to get some close up pics of "its" face this afternoon, and no one the crowing! Thats a good sign!
